Anton Mylläri

He wasn't selected to U16 Nordisk Cup in Hamar.
And hasn't played for Vasteros J 20 in last games.

Anybody know why?

I see he was selected to U17 team. And he and Anton Lander are the only 1991 born players on that roster.
He's 6'2 220 already.

Yes, he is. he has a brother who's a forward though. Anton is one of the top Swedish prospects for the '09 draft, could turn in to a great defenceman.

Does he have a Finnish citizenship too?

Can't wait to watch Myllari this year, he seems an exciting prospect in what is a good year for Swedish defencemen.

Mylläri is a very, very big and strong guy. He could lose some weight (fat), but he's extremely strong. He's actually 238 lbs this season.

Well, there's no doubt why this guy is so big and strong. His father is the swedish Amateur wrestling national team's head coach.

too bad he is still overweight, even more so this year it appears. There is no chance he will ever keep up in for example Elitserien at his current physical status. Stock is falling IMO. I'd probably have 4-5 Swedish defensemen ahead of him in this year's draft class.

His father revoked his own in the early eighties, so my bet is no.

I wouldn't be so sure. The scouts like big guys, and afterall, Mylläri is doing fine for Västerås in SEL-2, which is a higher level than most other possible draft picks play on. Sure, there are defensemen who are ahead of him, but not 4-5 players.

It's a big question who has bigger problems Myllari who probably just needs to lose some body fat, maybe 5 kg or a guy like Simon Lof or Ekman-Larsson, who need to add 15-20 kg to even think about NHL.

Myllari was well over 100 kg at 15, so then he dropped the weight. At least that speaks about his ability to drop the weight if needed. He is a big guy, has huge frame and big bones, kinda like Doug Murray, so no, he will never be less than 100 kg(220 lbs) actually I really doubt he will be less than 112-115 kg(245-253 pounds).

Myllari is listed as 6'2" 238. Anyone know how good is his skating?

I'd say he's a good skater for a guy with his size.

He is a below average skater compared to other 6'1, 6'2 defensemen.

There are not really any other defenseman that combines his his height + weight, so saying he is a good skater for a guy with his size... does not really say much, I am afraid

A positive thing is that I do think he has improved his acceleration.

Thats the problem the Blackhawks had last year with Byfuglien (6'3" 250+). This year he reported in camp at 245. Good acceleration but skating backwards and lateral movement were very poor.

Byfuglien was converted to forward 1/2 way thru last season and could be a monster at forward since his straight line speed is very good.

I'm not suggesting Myllari should change positions but guys his size usually have major skating issues.

A bit heavy still it seems. Moves alright. Gets his points through a good skillset. Some offensive hockey sense missing. Is playing in the appropriate level for his talent. He is still young and would benefit greatly of more cardio. Hard to know if he can be an elitserien player one day or not.

Knew him when i was younger and he just have no ambitions in being a SEL-player or even take his game to a higher level. If he would have ambitions and some determination his weight wouldnt be a issue.

A bit heavy is putting it kindly. Saw him play yesterday, he's pretty solid, except when it comes to skating and mobility.
