Oh man that was sick by Moroz. If he can ever fix his skating and hockey sense, we could surely use a player like him.

Well he does have 9 goals and 13 points in 10 games this year.
Also Moroz is actually a pretty good skater.

I'd go so far to say he's a very good skater, especially for his size. I think (purely speculation on my part) that his main issue may be lack of maturity. I could see him becoming an effective third or fourth liner in the NHL down the road.

Both he and Henrik seem to take some undisciplined penalties.

Lazar is 2-2-4 tonight in Red Deer. Kid is an unstoppable wrecking ball.

Did any of you fine ladies and/or gentleman see the game tonight? If so, how'd Lazar look?

He plays center.

One of the very best. Easily.

Easily one of the best forwards. I suggested the Oilers take him at 7 and was laughed at. I will stand by that suggestion because I think Lazar plays the perfect 'pro' 2nd line center type of game.

I'm really happy with Nurse as our pick from this past draft but damn getting Lazar would have been nice.

Moroz has 15 points in 11 games, 10 goals.

How has he looked?

He's looked great, but he's not going to sleep well tonight. He took a very bad penalty that led to the winning goal tonight.

That didn't sit well with Laxdal, and Moroz was definitely taking it hard. He knew he messed up.

He didnt mess up. That was garbage officiating. He did his job and should be commended.

Can you be more specific about the penalty in question?

Two players ended up on top of Santos (OK's backup) courtesy of a S.Reinhart push (keep in mind I was seated at the other end of the rink during these proceedings). Moroz came in and gave Reinhart a facewash and pulled him away from the crease. The officials gave Moroz the only penalty out of the scrum, which occured late in a tie game. The call came shortly after Lazar was given an extremely bizarre and unwarranted interference penalty.

Just a couple other thoughts on the game:

Moroz has taken advantage of his oppourtunity in the top 6 and looks quite dangerous out there shift to shift.

The team is really missing Corbett's offense.

Apart from Reinhart, Jaedon Deschenau (spelling?) and Luke Philp, no one on Kootaney was really buzzing. The Ice have next to no secondary offensive weapons.

Lazar is a beauty. Really happy with Nurse but would have no problem in we had Curtis instead.

Chalk another goal for Moroz. He opens the scoring with his 12th. This time from Kulda and Carroll.

Hmm, LT says it was an own goal by Kootenay. Moroz still gets credit.

What Brewster said. Also the penalty shot awarded to Sam Reinhart wasn't even a penalty imo. Those three incidents happened within a few minutes of each other. Garbage officiating. Seen it too many times. Time for the league to do something about it.

Welp, the Abbotsford Heat left our ol' pal Laurent Brossoit in the net for 9 goals against in his pro debut tonight. Welcome!

Yup, the one-handed love tap on the outside of his shin pad. Amazing how the refs can tilt the ice so blatently in junior hockey.

The Oil Kings game is on SHAW TV tonight at 7:00. A chance to check out Mitch Moroz from the comfort of your own home.

EDIT:

Hmmm, Moroz just got rubbed off the puck along the boards in his own zone causing a turnover and 2 seconds later it's in the back of the net.

Geez... Moroz just got plastered looking at a puck between his skates. Lazar jumps to his defense and doesn't fare that well.

Rough start for Mitch's night.

Couple hits, one nice one to a guy crossing the Oil King's blue line, playing in front of the net on the PP, forechecking and causing havoc in the opposition end along the boards. Warrior defenseman (Bell?) boards Samuelsson (Henrik turned into it sharply) and Moroz comes over and tells him they gotta go. Mitch polishes his knuckles on Bell's face to end his period.

Moroz took a shift on RW (Baddock - Lazar - Moroz). Really strong PWF move to hold the defender at bay with one hand and drag the puck with one hand on his stick coming off the right half boards to the net.

The Oil Kings ended their hibernation with a 4-2 win on the road against conference leaders Calgary.

Nice work boys!

Back-to-back shutouts by Jarry as well. This team appears like it's starting to roll a bit!
