Never ceases to amaze me the continued support that Zuccarello gets from Rangers fans. The guy stinks. He can't shoot well. He can't pass consistently. He can't play defense well. He wins no battles in the corner. He's not good on the PP. He's not good on the PK unit. I said it from day one. Bringing this guy back was a waste of money.

This guy is a waste. He does not do anything well and he weighs nothing so he is pushed around with no effort by the other team at all. The guy for all the offensive potential everyone talks about has done NOTHING! He will pass through waiver without a thought. And if someone is desperate enough to take hike then great.

Seeing as the whole team isn't producing much, it would be too quick to judge individual players.

Half the players on this team have failed to produce points. Only two players have scored more than one goal (Richards (4) and Callahan(3)). There are 11 goals divided on 6 scorers. 18 assists on 7 players. Thats 39 points total, being produced by a total of 11 players alone. Averaging a low 3.5 points per game. Also, Hankypanky may have his worst streak in god knows how long, with a GGA of 3.45. This whole team is underperforming.

Compared to, for example Colorado, where every player has at least one point to show for - and the points are divided more evenly between players - this is horrendous.

My point is that if the team sucks overall, it's easier to blame individual players. This whole team is lacking, only having 2-5-0 and bad play in lost matches to show for. Maybe the fault lies with the managment, not in the players?

I don't really care about the individuals, as long as the team is playing good hockey.

There needs to be case studies done on discussion forums to conclude the basal rate of opinion shift between sports. We're a few days into the next season and a guy most here adored last season is now the favorite to get kicked out.

For example: In soccer, you exclusively blame the coach when the team struggles. in hockey: you exclusively blame the players, not the system.

It's fascinating to watch, really. With the exception of a few noteable naysayers, this is turning into one massive bandwagon

Exactly, the task to turn this around relies not only on a single player, the players or the coaching staff alone - but the team in a whole. Altough, time is working against them, and if the play isn't getting better soon, something needs to happen anyway. A new player in may bring momentum for change, but he will not be doing it all alone - the team will.

Not completely unwarranted. Mats is a player who absolutely cannot let his play fall off a cliff. He doesn't have that kind of leniency and not just with the fan base. He has too many things working against him. If he cannot prove he is able to overcome them and prove himself an NHL regular he will not stick very long. Especially in fickle New York. It's not exactly fair, but it is what it is. Even those of us who like him and want to see him overcome his obstacles know he is only going to get so many chances.

So does Stepan...and Miller. In other words, they all suck when 3 of the top 6 are out.

Stepan was invisible against the Devils, useless. Thats why that line with Zuccarello and Miller doesnt work.

Then he'd know Zuccarello stinks. And your user title of 'The rise of Zucca' is exactly what I mean. There must be a special corner of Oz populated by Norwegian munchkins with fast internet connections.

Stepan also has five points in seven games and is a proven ~20 goal scorer while Miller is 20 years old and one of the organization's top prospects.

The excuses for this guy is comical. He's just not good enough to be an NHL player. No one's saying he doesn't have some sort of skill, he just doesn't have what it takes, see Linus Omark and Rob Schremp.

I thought Zucc showed some promise in the first few games of the seasons, but recently he has been outmuscled and he isn't shooting the puck nearly enough.

Now that he is in the top 6, he is getting exposed playing against other team's top defenders and is overmatched. He is better off being utilized as he was in previous years when he was receiving 3rd line minutes.

Maybe a Kreider - Zucc line. Last year that showed real promise. Kreider's speed and Zucc's accuracy and vision could lead to some great chances coming out of our own zone.

Looks like mza could be out if the PP Lines;

Quote:
11:34AM: The Rangers twitter account says that the team is using two new PP units today at practice:

Michael Del Zotto and Brad Richards: Derek Stepan, Chris Kreider, Derick Brassard
John Moore and Ryan McDonagh, Benoit Pouliot, Brian Boyle and JT Miller

I'm merely trying to point out that there are other factors to a players shortcomings other than "They suck". That goes for all the Rangers players who have been underperforming.

Its much more interesting trying to figure out the underlying factors rather than target individuals in a chain and single them out, when they are not solely responsible.

or perhaps you are just looking for any and all excuses to shelter Zuc from any responsibility and blame?

Honestly I'd rather take a long hard look at exactly what AV has done with this team. As you might reacall, we've been swept a few times and its not one players fault.
