Naslund = Koivu = GOD, we need to trade for him

I was watching a Canucks game, and I understood that Naslund, on the Canucks, is the equivalent of Koivu on our team. The only difference is that Koivu is a better playmaker and Nalslund is a better scorer. The way they play, they look the same. They are the face of their franchise, they are captains, they work hard on the ice and they have skills. If the Canucks are in the dead end and if they think they will miss the playoffs, we might have a chance to trade for Naslund. Imagine a first line with two Koivu, one who can pass and one who can score. Here would be my lines

Lats-Koivu-Naslund
Higgins-Grabs-Kovalev

So if we're not trading Higgins, Koivu, Kovalev, Latendresse or Grabovski to get Naslund, exactly how DO we manage to get him in a Habs uniform? Would you trade your team captain for Ryder and Samsonov...?

Because they will miss the playoffs, because they will start rebuilding, because we will try to make it further in the playoffs. If we offer them Kost, a first and maybe something else, they would look at it, look at what kind of impact this kind of package could have in 2-3 years. They could pull the trigger, they could bite, considering Naslund makes 6M a year, considering they get a lot of assets for the future, considering they clear up a lot of cap space.

Doesn't Naslund have a no trade clause? I think he's happy in Vancouver.

Also, he makes 6 million a year. You have to make room against the cap to add that salary.

I'd like to give him a chance, to see what he can do in the NHL, to see if he can be our second line center this year, since we have none and he's the best candidate. I'd like to know if he can do the job or not, because if he can't, we just have to trade for a second line center who will be a UFA. Since the Pleks and Kovalev options have failed, I'd like to see the Grabovski option, I'd like to see if he can really be a second line center in the NHL. He played hockey all his life, he played pro in Russia, he played in the AHL, it's time for the NHL, especially since we have a whole at his position.

ok, so if he works out what are your lines without getting Naslund of course?

We can always find a way of making $ room for him. If he's available, and I think he could be since the Canucks might take the rebuilding mode, I think we should try to go for him. Think about it, if we had a very bad team, a bottom standing team, would you try to keep Koivu, or would you try to trade him for a LOT of future assets while being nice to him and send him to a winning team?

A few questions:

Does Vancouver have a very bad team?

They have a good chance at making the playoffs imo.

Does Naslund want out of Vancouver?

If so, I'm the opposite, I want in of Vancouver (that doesn't make sense, I know).

Is Koivu retiring soon or something? Is he too expensive?

I don't think so.
