Big Mac will be with the big squad at some point. Not sure about this year but in the near future.

I hate seeing kids decommit regardless of what team it is. Your Badgers have been unfortunate in that category.

The greatest rivalry will be back. The Sioux/Gophers will once again renew their hate for each other starting 2016 in Minneapolis. 2 game series each year. Should of never ended.

Fighting Sioux open their season tonight with an exibition game against Manitoba at the Ralph. I have always went to this game because I love checking out the freshman as everyone plays but will have to watch on tv in instead. Manitoba always plays hard so it's always a good test for the boys.

These officials are just awful. There's been 7 penalties in the first 12 minutes.

I don't think there has been 10 minutes of even strength hockey in this entire game. I hope the season isn't like this.

I was there and witnessed it. They made the WCHA officials look like they knew what they were doing in the past. Didn't think that was possible. There was no flow to the game at all. It's got to get better doesn't it?

Thought the freshman looked alright. Made some rookie mistakes but all in all they held their own. Saunders was brutal in the net. 2nd and 3rd goals should not happen at this level. Gothberg has to be the #1 guy. Looked solid in relief of Saunders last night. Rocco and Caggs worked well together on the 1st line. Had Tambelini as the left wing and I think that could get changed tonight. It was nice to see them comeback after being down 3-1.

First shootout game of the year and even though the Sioux won it I really don't think I will ever warm up to them. Just don't think they belong in college hockey. Keep em in the NHL.

Rocco and Caggs were again the 2 who created scoring chances last night. Caggs is becoming one of my favorites. Kid works his ass off. Matson once again making mistakes. Just makes some dumb decisions that will or have cost the team. Stecher is the best rookie D as of now and Ausmus and Ladue will be alright. Johnson is going to be a stud. Only 2 games in but he looks like he has been there before. Gothberg has to be the #1 guy. Steady and stays square at all times. Obviously the boys need to learn to play with the way they are calling penalties. If they keep calling the obstruction stuff then they need to adjust. They get sent to the box like that in Miami next weekend and it won't be pretty. Miami looks like the real deal with the way they pounded Ohio St. I would be happy as hell with a split.

Ryan Gropp one of the Sioux's top recruits has jumped ship and signed with Seattle of the WHL. Stinks but you could see this one coming. At least he did it now and didn't wait until next summer or later.

Burnaby, B.C. -- The Simon Fraser University Men’s Hockey team is pleased to announce that the 2014 Great Northwest Showcase will take place on January 3rd and 4th, 2014, and will feature the University of North Dakota (NCAA Division I), the Princeton University Tigers (NCAA Division I), Simon Fraser University Men’s Hockey (BCIHL), and the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds (CIS). This year’s event is sponsored by Tourism Burnaby as well as the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel.

The Great Northwest Showcase began in 2012 as a four game exhibition showcasing top level international University Men’s Hockey while promoting the importance of education during an athlete’s career. This year’s event will continue in the tradition of the GNS while building on the success of the inaugural event. The GNS not only provides a valuable competitive experience for the student-athletes involved, but also world-class entertainment and competition for sports fans of all ages who attend.

The four games of this year’s GNS are: SFU vs Princeton, UBC vs UND, UBC vs Princeton, and SFU vs UND. The games are scheduled to take place at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre in Burnaby, BC, home of the SFU Men’s Hockey team.

“We appreciate the invitation and are proud to be a part of this tournament,” says UND Head Coach Dave Hakstol. “It is a great opportunity to spread the footprint of NCAA Division I hockey and, at the same time, allows many of our players from Western Canada to return home for two exhibition games.”

“The UBC Hockey team is excited to attend this year’s Great Northwest Showcase, it will be a great opportunity for the fans to see different levels of college hockey and two top NCAA programs.” says UBC Head Coach Milan Dragicevic. “Our players will be thrilled to play against top NCAA competition and raise the level of awareness of CIS hockey in the Lower Mainland.”

Tickets are now on sale at www.greatnorthwestshowcase.com

Different game in Ohio tonight. Miami taking it to the Sioux 5-1 after 2. Gothberg was pulled after the 4th goal and in comes Saunders and right off the bat he lets in a weak one. I was hoping for a split and that looks like it will be unless a miracle happens in the 3rd.

4 conference losses in a row. This team needs to bring the lunch pail to the rink because they are getting outworked on a pretty consistent basis. Embarrassing.

Paging Rocco. You can step up anytime now.

Sioux women end the 62 game win streak of the Gophers today after winning 3-2 at Ridder Arena. Safe to say that streak will be tough to top if at all.

Very sad news coming out of Grand Forks today. Former player Chad Johnson was found dead, apparently struck by a train. Thoughts and prayers to his family. RIP

I'm really not impressed with the hockey east officials tonight. What they have called, and what they haven't is truly puzzling. Also, there is no way this game should be tied UND has like 40 shots on goal.

Well, I hate to see a goaltender win games by himself but that's what happened. UND dominated the whole game without the deserved result.
