Love Vanek but that's not doable, dumping RR wouldn't get you there, Vanek is over 7 mill and beyond that, has already stated the team he wants to play for is Minny, his wife is from there, they have a house there and he misses playing with Pomi. So gving up assets and moving pieces to trade for him is too risky as he might not sign a contract for LA when his runs out this year.

You're gonna have to dump more than Regehr to get a 7-mil player under the cap.

Darryl Sutter hinted at Alec Martinez getting a look at LW. Won't necessarily happen. More to come at LAKI.

Wouldn't it make more sense to try Muzzin, since Martinez can actually play defense?

Mike Richards, so far, is quietly having a pretty good year. He'll hopefully end up with about 60-65 points, assuming he's playing with some sort of talent on the wings. His face-off percentage is way up (he substitutes face-offs with Carter depending on the circle location) but more importantly are the things he's doing outside the camera range. Hopefully he's being exposed enough to the Eastern powers that be so that he's in the mix for the Canadian Olympic team. Tough enough to look good when you play on a defensive minded team that doesn't score much, but add to that the west coast play that seldom gets mentioned in the east. No disrespect to Flyer fans, but I get a chuckle when they continually evaluate the "trade" to a comparison of the points scored by Simmons and Schenn vs those by Richards. His value goes way beyond simple scoring and its that type of play which will hopefully land him on Team Canada.

The Pacific Ocean.

Lol if this is legit, I am not surprised. Sutter has no idea what he's doing with line ups 99% of the time.

Look what Burns started. Here's a novel idea, why not just use a legit top 6 LW from your farm team or trade for one....

Well it wouldnt be a true 3rd line with Richards on it. You would be making a top 9 where you can throw any line out there in any situation and would lead to nightmare matchups for the opposition

Terry Murray has had a lot of dumb lineups in the past. Moving Martinez to LW would be the next natural step for him

I'm sorry, but those lines are a mess. If you move Carter to center, you put Kopi, Carter, and Richards as your top three centers, period. Quit screwing around and bring up a skilled wing or two and adjust from there:

Perason-Kopi-Williams
Brown-Carter-Toffoli
Carcillo-Richards-Frattin
Clifford/King-Stoll-Lewis

I think he's either having eye pain or some da vinci code numbers thing going on

Let's see...put all the straight line numbers together 10-11-14...put all the silly long straight lines together 74-77 and ehhh 21 is in between so i can do that...and all the weird curvy stuff 23-28-22. There. Viola. The rest of you turds, grab a friend because it doesn't really matter to me. Bag skate time.

Visnovsky played wing for a bit while he was still on the Kings.

The Kings were not a cup caliber team with a skilled LW prospect who just impressed in camp then either

Sutter is not going to sit any of his beloved grinders to play two skilled rookies, just aint happening.

Now he has resorted to putting Brown on the 3rd line, the fact is, the Kings cut have Mike Bossy in his prime with Lewis and Stoll and the line still wouldn't score.

I was a big Sutter guy, but I am starting to lose faith, I remember when a lot of Flames fans said he leaned heavily on his grinders, I feel like we are getting that way with the Kings. there is no excuse why guys like Carcillo and Clifford have played in scoring line roles in the past.

When Sutter was asked why try Martinez on LW, he replied, "someone has to play left wing." #LAKings

Is Sutter just trolling us? lol

From lakingsinsider:

Sutter was blunt when asked about the length of time he had considered using Martinez as a forward.

“Every time he’s backchecking when he should have been skating backwards,” he said.

I think its a wake up call, nothing more. However, I would love to see Martinez on the left wing just for the hell of it. What if he starts tearing it up out of nowhere? Given our crap depth at LW it can't hurt.

We've seen crazy stuff in practice before, only to be back to normality during games. So who knows what the heck is going on.
