meh.. check his name and you'll understand.

A thread started by a Leafs fan re a TORONTO Star reporter reporting that LEAFS have been scouting and wanting a player on FLA..
Yet somehow its the fault of FLA fans here that Leafs loaded with LHDs are looking at Kulikov..

If you want to bash... bash the Leafs management or the leafs reporter or the leaf fan that started this thread. Not FLA fans

Sounds like people at the Blue Jays games

As it stands now, that's true, but Gardiner and Rielly play a similar style and have just as much upside, if not more. The Leafs also have Franson who puts up good offensive numbers. I'm not sure how Kulikov would make sense for them at all.

Honestly, I think it would be a 3 way between him, Gunnarsson and Franson. Definitely an asset to the team... Just not one you break the bank to add when you have a bunch of promising young D as it is.

Well if the Panthers are going to make him available at least the Leafs are doing their part and scouting him because he still has the potential to be a game-breaking talent. Not sure what the Panthers would want though, and whether Toronto would even pony-up if a bidding war ensued.

Would Toronto's 1st + average prospect do the trick?

I read this thread, I could not find an instance where someone accused a FLA fan for this line of thought. I think one of the poster questioned the logic behind this trade from the leafs point of view and many pointed out it is Cox who imo is not very credible.

Saying that I like Kulikov would like him on the leafs, but not sure he is what the leafs need at this point.

And then Kulikov responds with a friendly 'hello'. Knowing full well that he's superior to both of them defensively.

Gardiner for Kulikov might be close, but I'm not sure how Panthers fans value Kulikov.

And as is well-known, no young defenseman has ever improved defensively.

What does he do defensively that they don't anyway?

His defensive play is being underrated in this thread, I would say he would probably the 2nd/3rd best defender on the Leafs, is very young, and has a lot of offensive potential. That's what i've seen from watching him, admittedly not a lot.

I'm quite certain that's not what they're arguing about.

I could win the lottery tomorrow, but right now both you and I are well-aware that I'm poor as f---.

I would love Kulikov on the Hawks, and I know that Tallon and Bowman have a good relationship when it comes to trading. What would it take to acquire him? Prospects + picks?

I think the only way the Panthers benefit from moving a 23-year old D with high upside is if they receive something of similar value in return.

Based on other recent rumors, Gardiner + small future assets makes the most sense for both teams. Perhaps also Liles contract + an incentive to take that contract to make the $$ work.

Don't want a Russian on this team. He wouldn't fit in with the North American core we're building. If you guys have any defensemen from Ontario we'll gladly have him instead?

Yeah him and his defensive abilities/board play that our team does not need.

I want to see Kulikov in action now because looking at his stats he could be an interesting addition.

I imagine a lot of teams would be interested in him if he was available.

However, he doesn't appear to have made many strides the last few years. Stagnant development.

Toronto went into this summer with a very strong young goalie, saw a chance to pick another one up on the cheap, and now the team is deeper as a result.

I could see acquiring Kulikov under very similar circumstances.

He's an upgrade, that's for sure, but he's not what the team needs. A right-handed shutdown d-man with experience is the biggest need. It's a very specific need but it's reality.
