Ha ha, fair enough! I was being earnest when I suggested WJC, btw, though reading it back it sounds rather flippant. I wouldn't be at all surprised it takes having the WJC camp in sight for him to start playing with a mission.

Well he showed flashes tonight of old Jo when he had the puck. He'll come around.

I'm more concerned about Weegar...

The PP was down right disgusting tonight... you wont score by passing it along the perimeter with no one in front of the net. Also the solo rushes (Weegar) into the zone isn't a very effective way to set up the PP.
Tonight? Every night. We seem as likely if not more so to score shorthanded as we do on the PP. It actually causes me physical pain to watch the Moose go on a PP.

Last night's highlights from John Moore:

I can live without Ashley's light elbow on Bibeau's head at 1:58. I like Ashley a lot, but he does that kind of stuff a little too frequently for me.

The one he was standing on? Bibeau was impressive in nets. Actually the goaltending from a lot of teams this year is really standing out.

But yes, Ashley seems a little dirtier than I remember.

Looked to me last night like he was trying to cherry-pick, even while short-handed. Bad habits stemming from his cut.

They certainly dominated the Islanders for the majority of the game last night, but didn't drive the net as well as they should. There were some juicy rebounds there at times, and there weren't a lot of screens. The PP units love passing the puck around the perimeter but little else; it's like they don't know what else to do without Mac & Frk there as trigger men.

If they clean up the flaws in their game, this team could really make some noise in the post-season.

Missed this earlier: Jesse Lussier skated with the team yesterday, so he should be back soon.

This really is the same as last year - too much cycling the puck and not enough putting it on the net. That has carried over, but now with lesser talent, no point shooter (damn I miss Frk), and no one right in there for the dirty goal (Fournier).

Half the time there seems to be three guys in the corner trying to dig the puck out to.... no one. So many chances if only someone had been parked in front of the net for either the pass out from the corner or the rebound and its frustrating to watch.

And the power play

Finally, some good news. I've liked Lussier so far. Now if only we could find someone to get Duke out of there...

Weegar had a shaky game but overall he's been great I thought. Generally he makes very few mistakes.

No doubt, that wasn't my point though. I don't think it was him having a bad game... I think he has an undisclosed injury. He's never been one to shy away from shooting and not once, or twice, but 3 times whiffed on a perfectly set up one-timer. To me that is the signs of an injured wrist.

Wow. I hope Fucale brought some of his homework to the net for that third period.

Probably one of the worst executed and boring games I have seen live. Both teams were playing hot potato with the puck for most of the game. The passing wasn't crisp and there wasn't a lot of flow.

Game shouldn't have been that close. Fucale wasn't very sharp tonight.

Yeah, that was really ugly. I literally almost fell asleep. I'm pretty sure the Timbits were sharper than both teams.

Positives:

- The strong backcheck by Drouin that lead to the game-winning goal.
- Jacques' first QMJHL goal...and Drouin retrieving the puck and giving him a big hug.
- That little kid's picture perfect Minion costume
- Everything about Shewfelt's play
- Adam Chapman covering up the penalty box cam with his stick. Cry more, buddy.

It was an ugly win, but I'll take it.

How does Timo Meier look so far? Any chance on getting drafted?

I don't think Timo is eligable before 15, so plenty of time to get rated.

John Moore chatting with Drouin after the Friday win, with some footage from the Saturday night win.

Meier is a 96L so is 2015 draft eligible. His game is still developing so i would not want to bank on him being a top 3 round consideration in 2015 at this point, but that could change.

I thought the previous home game was more boring but yeah, a win, but not a great win. Not the same team that outshot them by a factor of three the previous night. Fatigue maybe?

Agreed, Fucale let in a couple of weak ones.

They havent much to show for it sadly but I have been sayng for a couple weeks now how much I effing love how hard Shewfelt and Watt work on their shift. Hard skating to the puck in the offensive zone every shift.

Strong start, fizzled but now seems to be ramping up again.

The new Ashley, Drouin, Meier line seems to be working well.

I do believe a lot of the team issues have been around the lines. Between injuries (Lewis, Falkenham, etc.) and returns (Ashley, Drouin) I think the line situation has been in a constant state of flux since game 1.

I like Meier. He is pretty raw at the moment, but shows flashes of his potential. He can bury the puck and will crash the net, something that the guy he is replacing on the top line doesn't know how to do.

He was stuck with the Moynihan's who also seemed to quiet down quite a bit. I'm glad he's been given this shot and succeeding thus far.
