We could get MUCH MUCH better than that.

Don't think I see a possible fit here, trade-wise that is.

Lol.

I can assure you the Ducks would NOT give that up for Kulikov...

Finn isn't really a top prospect. Leafs would need to move either a top prospect (Rielly...maybe Gauthier) or a young roster player (Gardiner, Kadri (no), or JVR (no)), plus a pick to fill in the difference. Kulikov is regarded a pretty good dman with solid upside (from what I've read, I've seen him play once or twice). I'd say the Leafs would love to get him, but it would cost quite a bit.

It's not going to happen. Kulikov is a great young d man with a lot of potential but he is an offensive defenseman and we have plenty.

If you can trade for a good young player you do it. You don't trade based on need alone. Perfect example is Bernier did we need him? an argument can be made that we didn't but he's here we have 2 young talented potenial #1 goalies and because of that the team is tied for #1 in the east.

Do we NEED Kulikov ? probably not with Gardiner and Rielly already but if you can make it Gardiner Riely AND Kulikov then you do it.

Any time you can add talent and depthyou do it ESPICALLY on D because having depth on D allows you to improve other areas example Schenn for JVR

lol kinda, yeah

But besides that, the price for Kulikov would be a lot higher than Frattin + Scrivens. If we're supposed to make it Rielly, Gardiner AND Kulikov, that would obviously entail us trading a pretty significant forward that we aren't in a position to give up for something we have literally no need for with Rielly + Gardiner + Franson

I can't really see it. With Fraser coming back they already have 7 quality NHL defenders. They'd definitely have to move one of them out if they were going to bring Kulikov over.

Can't imagine there is much truth to this, especially considering the source.

Kulikov is one of Florida's best trading chips. IF they decide to trade him, it will almost 100% be in a deal where they look to acquire a better player (part of a package).

It makes no sense for Tallon to trade him for a less experienced, younger player or draft picks, especially in this stage of our build, and considering the fact that Kulikov won't exactly be demanding $5 Million/year with the season he's having so far.

With that said, the trade doesn't really make sense for either of these teams. Leafs have an abundance of left handed, offensive minded defenseman, including two talented young guys in Reilly and Gardiner.

Seems pretty stupid IMO.

Check it out this is the latest ranking for D.

48. Kulikov went 2+ 50. Previous ranking
51. Gardiner went 2- 49. Previous ranking

So there is not much of a difference in both players. On top of it Gardiner has just started playing his normal game since the last one so you will see some more. So if you guys think the difference between Gardiner and Kulikov is 1st. It's just stupid for leafs to give up on Gardiner.

The Hawks really don't need him, but at the same time I can't help but feel they should be interested. Rozsival and Brookbank are not playing well this year, Kostka's currently out and really Leddy is the only defenseman on the roster who is more of a future player than a now player.

But with how Q treats Leddy, perhaps it's not wise to add more young offensive defensemen.

gotta take kulikov's cap hit into consideration. leafs are right up against it and that's with guys on LTIR. It can't be a simple Gardiner + 1st or prospect, won't have cap space for it. it would have to be a package including a roster player plus gardiner or roster player plus a 1st. I'm thinking that roster player would be gunnarson

Edit: I realize gardiner is a roster player but is on ELC

A Gardiner for Kulikov swap could be good for both teams.

Kuli would fit Colorado like a glove, but the inevitable bidding war will probably put them out of contention. Just for fun:

Stastny (retaining $2mill) + 2014 1st round pick + Elliott + 2015 2nd round pick (if Stazz doesn't re-sign)

Seems like a lot, but when you're competing with 20 other teams you've gotta give a little more than you'd like to.

I can't see why TOR would give up the assests needed for Kulikov, nothing against him, just we have faaar too many offensive LHD and no defensive RHD. I'd be more interested in Gudbranson (Have to think FLA won't let it happen), Petrovic, or Bjugstad... or some obscene package for Barkov that has both fan bases complaining for days .

Seriously tho, what kind of return would FLA be looking for for petrovic or bjugstad?
