The Rangers traded their 2nd in 2013,Panthers 3rd in 13 acquired for Wolski and a 5th in 14 for Clowe. The 5th would have become a 2nd if they re-signed Clowe or won 2 playoff rounds. The Rangers have the Panthers 5th in June acquired for Wellman.
Or Zidlicky.

We also played many games with 11 forwards, completely unacceptable.

Hehe, and truth to be told, the disposal of Wolski... (left us with zero depth) Anyway, this is getting a bit to OT I am afraid.

I'm an ND student and got to see Fogarty put in his first of the year. Great one timer. He's a big, physical kid. Plays point on the PP.

Buchnevich continues to be red hot. Severstal was blown out, 8-3, but Buchnevich had a goal and an assist. He now has five points in his last four games, despite playing only about 12 minutes each night.

Agreed. I can see him becoming a Moore-like player. It's funny that we went out and acquired Moore after we drafted Skjei. The best thing is that I think a Moore clone would compliment Moore quite well.

"You have really nice eyes, John."

"Thanks, John. So do you."

Buchnevich had a secondary assist and a goal last nicht, Severstal was destroyed by Ulaev 3-8. His secondary assist is really impressive, he manages to hold on to the puck against two defenders and slide it between them, his goal to make it 3 to 8 shows his willingness to go to the net. From what I saw (2 periods) he was Severstal's best player that night (not hard to manage, but I'll take it).

Highlights: http://video.khl.ru/events/103521

Assist at around 3:10, goal at the end of the video.

Michigan,Minnesota and North Dakota were on TV last night. Notre Dame wasn't on TV. Steven Fogarty scored last night. Skjei looks much more confident than in his freshman year. Nieves made some nice plays with the puck but he couldn't finish and his linemates couldn't finish. 1-1 game. North Dakota was up 3-0 early. Won 4-2.

St Croix panic can ease, like Kreider panic

St Croix had a terrible camp at his first training camp as a pro, he went to Greenville, got it together, helped them to win their first 2 games and now he's called up to Hartford (with Andrew Rowe)

sorta similar to Kreider had a mediocre camp, went to Hartford, helped them to 3 strong weekends and 1st place, and now he's up with NYR

However both moves are more because of a necessity rather than earning it.

Donnay scored a goal last night, his first of the season. He has never scored more than one in an OHL season. He also has 3 points in 11 games, which puts him on pace to establish a new high in points--he registered 8 points each of the past two seasons.

So, he's improving, I guess? I haven't watched him this season, but I do plan to watch an Erie game at some point this weekend.

Still not enamored with that signing. Tolchinskey has 21 points in 11 games...

Is Donnay still a stick? I can't believe someone who is 6' 7" can weigh as little as he does......what is he 190 now? That's about a normal weight, not for an athlete.

His OHL club lists his at 185. When I tune in this weekend, I'll let you guys know if he still looks like twig. I'm assuming he does, as guys with that build don't typically wake up one morning with meat on their bones.

Probably not. But at least he can add weight (unlike Tolch who actually can't and has had trouble even maintaining weight).

True, but he is dominating his current league and dominated Traverse City. Skillz

Brendan Shinnimin, another squirt that we had in camp/TC when he was scoring 96 points in 60 WHL games, has 34 points in 79 career AHL games. Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, the "phenom" that we "missed out on" has yet to earn an NHL roster spot. Those two may become NHL players one day, but the list of small guys that fail to make it is about 500 times longer than the list of small guys that make it. In the overwhelming majority of instances, small stature can't be overcome. It is what it is.

I'd have given Tolchinsky a spot over Donnay, sure, but we didn't. So I'm not worried about him. I'll pay attention to Donnay and hope he pans out.

That was more of a joke, I probably should have put the sarcasm smiley. However, regarding Zucc, I don't think he's been as bad as the rest of this board thinks. He's played hard and created some chances out there he just hasn't gotten points yet. But of course that's what he's here for so...

As for Donnay and Tolchinsky, due to our lack of great point producing forwards both on the team and in the system, and our relatively solid defensive corps, I thought the team should have made a play for a skilled forward that might be a good top 6 player vs another defenseman with top 4 potential.
