That sound you just heard was the Nashville season jumping off the tracks. Let's see if they can keep it from going off a cliff...

Hate to see this happen to Rinne. I hope it doesn't have too much of an effect on his chance at Sochi.

Remember in 2005 when Dunham and Lehtonen went down and unproven Michael Garnett kept the Thrash in the hunt for the months of November and December... It doesn't have to be a season killer

Time for Hutton to sack up and step up

or remember that time Rinne was hurt in the opener and an unproven kid played well and parlayed it into a an opportunity to start and a multi-year contract?

I trust Mitch Korn. Hutton was hand-picked by him.

Yeah, and this is one of those times that you are thankful the organization is so devoted to drafting and developing young goaltenders, even if they sometimes go the way of Dekanich or Pickard.

If Hutton is mentally strong enough to handle this responsibility, I don't think it'll be that bad. As someone said, Korn hand-picked him so there's no reason to doubt his ability. Plus he's looked good in his limited time so far. It's gonna be all about what's between the ears with him. Hopefully we get a W tonight to keep his confidence going.

Do we even know exactly what surgery he had done? I know it was arthroscopic but what exactly was it repairing? Does he have hardware in there? If he does, and it's infected, that's bad.

This is what he had surgery for in the first place. Not good.

God this is the worst news imaginable; Hutton's last start is hopefully indicative of future ones. We have so many road games coming up too.

Scope is short for arthroscopic surgery. I've had it done on my knee; it's not nearly as invasive as traditional surgery, but it's still surgery.

True that- I know there is nothing good about this, but I was just thinking that if they can flush out the infection then medically speaking he theoretically could be as good as we was before the infection?? As opposed to actually re-injuring the hip..

I don't know- just looking for any kind of positive.......

Sounds like this is one of those things that can happen after surgery. Playing him 9 games had no effect one way or the other.

How is Pekka's absence going to affect the aggressiveness of the Dmen jumping into plays in the offensive zone? Are they going to take fewer chances in an effort to protect Hutton/Hellberg? The big question is will this hurt our meager offensive production because they are trying to protect unproven netminders?
