great game. wish we did better in the shootouts though. It seems carbo doesn't have a handle on who can get it done or we just don't have the guys

Every one is inconsistant, we have no real shootout specialist. If ryder would only just shoot instead of deak kovalev usually hits the post or can't get it up, but hab a beauty tonight, koivu is inconsistant and so is the rest of the guys.

any thoughts on who our best shootout guys are?

we're 4-4 in shotouts

thats not bad... not great but not bad either

I'd like to see Johnson in the shootout as a #4 option if it gets to that point

Kovalev, koivu, and souray would be my top 3

I don't understand why Perezhogin never gets a look in the shootout. He's proven that he's got moves.

Carbo used him a couple of times in the past and the kid was obviously not confident enough.. The last time he has not even been dangerous, not even close to score... Im a big Perezhogin fan but at the moment the kid is still learning and not confident enough in his skills... We will have to be patient, it will pay be sure.

We've lost 4 shootouts of 8, 2 of which have been against Buffalo.

Kovalev almost had the goal of the year. Fantastic game by the Habs!

It wasn't really a spectacular goal...forehand, backhand, roofed it.

Edit: the potential "goal of the year" BladesofSteel mentioned was during overtime when Kovalev did a spinorama around practically the entire Sabres organization to cut in front of Miller, but he didn't score. If he DID have, you better believe there'd be videos of it.

I know this doesn't lend itself directly to shoot-outs but I think it does point out a problem that we do have......

We are currently 15th in the league in GOALS! If we are going to be a contender, we simply need to add goal scoring to the team we currently have! Imagine how many one goals games may have just gone the other way if it weren't for those few extra goals now and then. We are 26th in the leaugue when it somes to shots on goal not to mention 2nd in the league in shots allowed. More shots.... more goals!!! Lets go guys SHOOT the puck! And hopefully somewhere between now and the trade deadline either one or two of our guys step up or we aquire someone who can. Mediocre teams don't make it far. We have fixed many problems this year but we still don't have that #1 guy when it comes to scoring goals. Lets hope Higgins is one of these guys when he gets back!

That's all for now.

GO HABS GO

if were a top team we need to be better than even in shootouts...

get it? i feel that were a top team, and we need to act like one in the shootouts. Carbo needs to establish who the guys are. In everygame he may need to alter the list a little depending on who is in the groove but he still needs to nail it down to 3 or 4 guys who are consistant.

so far this season i like in random order, Koivu.

also there are a few guys who have surprised me, Souray.

sure kovalev had a beauty and ryder has scored nice ones but they are inconsistant. Ryder should shoot at least 3 out of every 4 chances he gets, to keep the goalie guessing and still using his main weapon(his shot).

Maybe carbo should hold another shootout drill at practice, this might help him pick the guys.

there are other things that need addressing but this one is the one that gets my blood boiling. I hate shootouts and i especially hate losing them..

I'm impressed we tied the Sabres. They're 5-1 in shootouts, and with an arsenal like that, as well as a goalie like that did you really expect to beat them?

Last season the Habs weren't as high as 15th in goals. When Samsonov regains his touch the team will be higher. The main thing is that they've scored more goals than they've given up.
