Bachman is looking good enough

We need more forwards like Perron. Skilled young and gritty. Size shouldn't matter too much just not tiny. Perron has been successful with his style of play. If we can't find them on the market then we should teach our forwards how to play that way, which is what I think Eakins is trying to do. I noticed Arco in some scrums the other night.

Also of course need some D, and to shed some prospects.

If we're scouting Columbus I hope it's a defenseman. Tyutin preferably..

Jenner could be making Foligno expendable and Nikitin was a healthy scratch recently.

I would give up a decent ransom for those two.
Arcobello, Marincin (An offensive defenceman is a different commodity than Nikitin) and a third for the two.
What else would need to be added?

Why would we want Nikitin if he can't make the Columbus lineup? My guess is there looking at Wisniewski, Tyutin, or Johnson. We need another top 4 guy minimum.

Edit: Looks like he's played top 4 minutes in the past. Seems like a good guy to target but what do we send back?

I wasn't talking about replacing bachman I meant add Gibson, Campbell, Anderson, houser, markstrom, gistafason etc

Why would Howsen be scouting these guys.. He should know them all pretty good already.
Tyutin-Nikitin was a solid pairing for CBJ.. on par if not better than Smid-Petry..
hopefully we target Ryan Murray.. that would certainly be bold

Memory loss, a side effect of experimental pharmaceuticals provided by Katz Corp.

It's going to be tough to improve the team by a significant enough margin without dealing some pretty important pieces.

exactly, offering up hemsky, nick schultz, will get you nothing significant, i think its time Mactavish finally live up to his intial bold moves, by doing something big,

Like what? Trade RNH for Hamilton+ and replace him with Gagner and have Arco as 2nd line C?

I love what I have seen from Nurse so far, I think he will be a player.

I'd be willing to deal any of Gagner, Hemsky, 1st in 2014, Klefbom, Marincin or any other picks and prospects or combination of them to help land defense help and a goaltender, and if possible some size.

Few things.

One was CBJ the City that he was planning on going to or is this just a stop while checking things out elsewhere? Time and time again we hear about guys scouting a NHL City only to find out that they were in the area and had time to watch another game.

Two, is he scouting CBJ or Toronto?

Three, if everything suggests that he is out their scouting CBJ, maybe just maybe he is looking to make sure something hasn't changed for a player. Just because he saw them play in the past doesn't mean we shouldn't scout in the present.

We have a lot of other pieces. People seem to forget that teams that are looking to move impact players are probably not looking for immediate impact back. There are teams out there that want picks and prospects for their players. We should be targeting these teams first.

I can see a Hemsky for phaneuf trade type deal coming down. I doubt phaneuf resigns in Toronto

What's the Leafs angle on this trade? Their #1 defenseman for what would be their 3rd best RW

With Hemsky, Schultz, and some others off the books next year we should have some cap space to sign a UFA D-Man.

Here is a link to the UFA D-Men in the off-season:
http://capgeek.com/ufa-finder?position_id=D

Some possible grittyish UFAs to replace Schultz are below:

37 Boyle 6.66M
36 Mitchell 3.5M
36 Corvo 2M
35 Morris 2.75M
35 Phillips 3.25M
35 Sarich 2M
34 Hannan 1M
33 Orpik 3.75M
30 M.Green 2.95M
29 Ericsson 3.25M
29 Girardi 3.4M
28 Phaneuf 6.5M

Any thoughts?

I'll take Boyle simply to improve our PP and for shootouts.

I would take Matt Greene back in a heartbeat.

I think they will go after a Brian Campbell type via trade.

One of Klefbom or Nurse will make the team next year out of camp. Petry will likely be resigned.

I would not be stunned if Smid is traded.

The Oilers 1st will be dangled for immediate help I think, probably a goaltender, unless it is a top 6 pick (ugh).

Phillips and Boyle, I think offer Boyle a one year 7.5M deal and Phillips to a 3year 3.5M deal. Trade Smid if the off season then roll with this top 4 next year.

Phillips-Boyle
Ference-Petry

Boyle mentors Schultz and Schultz takes over the top pairing in 2 years when he should be ready. Until then he stays bottom pairing and gets lots of PP time.

Yeah he didn't seem to be a part of the Stoll/Torres fall-out after the fact.. would love to have him and would likely be welcome back.. but for the same price I think I would rather go with Morris, unless Greener takes a cut
