The search for Canadian Laura Gainey, who has been missing since a wave swept her off a tall ship Friday, was being called off, as of 6 p.m. ET.
The announcement was made by the U.S. Coast Guard at a press conference in Portsmouth, Va.
Laura Gainey was a strong swimmer, colleagues say.
