I love the optimism. Please let this happen

It really is f-in ridiculous when you're at the point where you can't envision your team scoring 3 goals against a backup goalie and a team that's playing two nights in a row. 2 goals for is my guess. Let's hope that Mason can continue like he has, to give us a shot at the W.

Good luck tonight guys. I'm thinking a 3-2 final (could go either way)

Oh no we're losing

I hope Bill Meltzer was right to bring this up:

Last season, Claude Giroux dragged a deep slump into a game in Long Island. He left with 3 points (2G,1A) and start of six-game, 12 PT run.

Had a dream last night that Giroux scored. Hopefully a good sign.

I have a hard time imagining this team being capable of scoring three goals against any team or NHL player but at the same time I know there's such a thing as outliers, law of averages, etc. Eventually we're going to score three or more goals even if by pure luck and eventually we're going to get shutout (which is amazing that it hasn't happened yet).

Apparently, CanadianFlyer88 also thinks the Flyers can score 3+ goals.

I've predicted more than 2 goals in every win prediction. I've only got one score prediction right and it was a 4-1 loss.

Oh goody- sad sack Hartnell is back. That should really improve things although catching the Islanders in the 2nd game of a back to back should have more of a bearing on the Flyers winning than having that clown back in the line-up.

That "clown" has 230 goals and 485 pts in 880 NHL games. He'll most likely eclipse 900 games, 500 pts and perhaps the 250 goal mark. I know he's an up and down player but when the team is struggling to score, especially on the pp, I'll take him.

You're right- but 44% of those points (211) were scored during his first 6 years with the Predators; after that, signed for 7 years with the Flyers at a cap hit of 4.2 million per and re-upped (if you can believe it) this year at 4.75 million per year for another 7 (that's until 2019) and, to boot, with a NM contract. Real value, if you ask me.

Respectfully, i gotta believe there are many teams in the NHL who would like to have the " sad sack " Hartnell on their club ? The guy is a warrior and is not afraid to go into the dirty areas where many players will not go.

They were both 6 yr contracts...

So basically he's improved, putting up 56 percent of his NHL points in the six yrs here in philly (it should also be mentioned that we're counting his 32 games last yr as a season, meaning his ppg numbers since he came to philly is substantially better when compared to his time in nashville). And as far as his new contract is concerned I'm not all too thrilled with it either but tell me you wouldn't rather have Hartnell at 4.75 compared to say Clarkson at 5.25 per. The price of these guys has gone up with the cap, though not necessarily proportionally, so this is league wide not just the Flyers.

Hartnell if healthy can still help this team.

Hartnell can have an impact when he's on, more so than an AHL callup.

In the theme of relevant songs for the Flyers' effort:

Sorry, I watch too much Disney channel with my 9-year-old girl.
