If you watch the games the problem is the system they are using. Of course goaltending has been terrible

Confirm or deny: The Oilers took one look at St. Louis backup G Brian Elliott and then decided he wasn't the answer especially with a $1.8 million pricetag? I know the answer.

I am guessing the answer is yes? Or because we won the Perron Deal they don't want to trade with MacT anymore.

Pretty obvious he's insinuating that the Oilers took one look at Elliott and headed for the hills.

It's a smart move, Elliott isn't as good as the results he acquired on a stacked defensive team suggest he is.

Elliott is just not a very good goaltender. He's sheltered behind a good system in St.Louis. His numbers would be Dubnyk-esque if he was an Oiler.

Basically, we can scratch him from targets during the offseason.

Got a short list of Hiller, Halak, and Scrivens I'd go after. Hopefully sign Hiller/Halak and Scrivens as backup.

Agreed. Elliot has been crap everywhere else he played. This is why I'm wary about goalies that play on teams with stingy defense. (See: Bryzgalov)

Which is why I'm warming up to Reimer. He is second to Hiller on "my list of goalies".

-Hiller
-Reimer
-Campbell
-Houser

Reimer plays on a putrid defensive team and has a Cujo-esque play style that would fit well with the Oilers schizophrenic gameplay.

Yes, the other two goalies on my list are AHLers who have no real chance at succeeding this year.

Dubnyk hurt, Labarbra sucks, starting a AHL goalie against a strong team. What else does MacT need in order to trade for a goalie..

Probably a willing partner.

This. I'm sure if MacT found a reasonable deal, it would have been done by now. He's not going to trade Yakupov for Reimer, and that may be the only BS he is being offered right now.

The sad part it, patience is unfortunately required here. GM's are looking at a rookie GM, who is DESPERATE for a goaltender, and they see a recent 1st overall pick with 40 goal potential that is struggling and trying to see what they can get away with.

Probably someone willing to trade him a goalie....For everyone who is *****ing about goaltending around here... I recall a majority of posters on here and media in the city stating goaltending was solid and the least of our problems at the end of last season. At least MacT attempted to get a goalie in the offseason.

Look at the price tag for goalies that have been traded recently... Like Bernier. Edmonton could easily
Afford a price like that.

I realize people will try and take advantage of him but they are looking
To improve their team as well..

Maybe we should start our mini rebuild
Trade Yak and Hemsky for futures at the deadline and tank for Ekblad and McDavid...just kidding

The answer is waiting in Anaheim we just have to wait for Anaheim to be ready to move one of them, till then we cross our fingers and hope Dubnyk can pull us through.

I'm weary about hinging our hopes on Anaheim, they really don't like trading inside their division. Apparently some GM's in the west didn't even know Ryan was available until the trade went down with the Sens.

Keep in mind that the price the Leafs paid isn't necessarily the same as the price the Oilers would've had to pay.

I'm that particular trade, yes I agree. But the point is that should be able to get a guy out
Of the east or a non divisional team for a non major piece or pieces going back the other way

I'm not sure Nash would view that as a win.

2012-2013 Nail Yakupov, 19 goals (rookie year)
2012-2013 Mike Fisher, 12 goals (leading scorer)

Who knows?
