I asked Google Maps where the back of the net is, and they told me 3170 Draper Dr #8, Fairfax, VA. Apparently the back of the net has a phone number, too.

Funny, mine says it is at 17 Scorer St, Lincoln LN5 7XE, right near Lincolnshire fire and Rescue.

Google is just as confused as our forwards.

If they're using Google Maps to find the back of the net this would explain a lot.

Edit: It's worse if they're using Bing, they don't have any results at all.

The only problem I see with Couturier is, how uncomfortable he looks in the offensive zone. I know he's only 20 years old, but I find it so odd for a kid who put up the kind of numbers he did in Juniors, to look so out of place offensively in this league. You would think by his 3rd season, you'd start to see some signs of being able to make plays offensively. I love the kid to death. Hell, I even have his winter classic jersey, but I am a bit worried when I see him with the puck in the offensive zone, and looking like a deer in headlights. Here's hoping he figures it out.

He showed the signs in his rookie year, got his confidence destroyed by Lavi, and has been steadily improving since Berube took over.

Couturier has amazing talent at times, just look at when he's playing 4 on 4. The extra space really shows his creativity. I have confidence that it will come back during 5 on 5. Just trying to be patient. Problem is, when the offense struggles, they look to the "kids" to help produce.

He gets indecisive at times, but the play he made against the Islanders that drew a penalty (lead to Vinny's first goal) was something you didn't see from him last year. In addition his defensive game has been really good lately and he's much stronger on faceoffs than he was in his first two years. I think he just needs to get on the board, he does a lot of things right in the offensive zone he just misses the net a lot. We saw in his rookie year that he's capable of scoring with his wrist shot, I think right now it just boils down to him trying to hard for that perfect shot and not just getting it on net, he'll figure it out.

Ergo Malkin's production in 2012 against the flyers shows that Richards had a bad year in LA

Did I get that right?
Not quite..I think my point there was moreso that, even with Couturier on the Flyers, Malkin still produced bascially the same level (a tenth of a pt per game lower) against the Flyers vs. when Couturier wasn't on the Flyers. So, perhaps it shows the limitations in terms of value of a "defensive specialist" in a third line role.

Before Couturier was here the Flyers had much better overall team defense. Richards, Carter, Gagne, a badass 4th line, Pronger and younger Timonen, etc. Now it's pretty much Couturier...and that's about it. Talbot too. When he isn't on the ice the rest of the team is less able to contain Malkin, so it evens out.

Now, imagine how he could produce without anyone here to neutralize him.

Well it definitely shows that Couturier shut down Malkin. And it might show that our team defense has gotten worse.
I'd like to see Couturier as the 2C next year, as he gets stronger. Especially if we move Vinny to the wing

The whole 2C, 3C thing doesn't matter. It's just a label. He'll be right behind G in overall ice-time for forwards and have his usual super important role. Berube seems really committed to having Couturier play with more offensively capable linemates. If Berube sticks with it and builds up the kids confidence, he will really start to deliver, as we are already starting to see signs of.

This makes sense. Berube said he wanted to make offense out of defense, and that's pretty much Couturier's game right there; win the defensive battle and move up the ice.

Has anyone noticed that so many of Couturier's offensive zone carry-ins have a tendency to end up like this?

Couturier leads the regular team in GFON/60 at 2.10, indicating the team is most productive when he is on the ice (at even strength). He's also near the top in GAON/60, against hard competition. His competition has been Perry + Getzlaf, the Sedins, Crosby, and Brad Richards.

There has been only one BUM in this organization. I think we all know who that was.

Are you referring to Clarke's awesome offseason pickup of Nolan BUMgartner?

It hurts to even read Couturier trade jokes because I know there are people in this city that hate his guts and think he's a bust.

Laperriere likes to tell young players, as he did when he was the Flyers director of player development, that they need to “find their chair.”
Sadly for Coots some people would like for his chair to be an electric one...

The team makes more offense when he's on while having less goals scored by opponent's top lines. Can we make a banner that says that and hang it between skyscrapers?

I think that's a convoluted way of saying that he has an OK +/- through 11 games, right? I don't think there has ever been much question about his shut-down defensive ability. But his continuing lack of offensive growth is starting to get a bit worrying/frustrating. It's especially exacerbated when he is now playing with more gifted linemates and the team is starved for goals to boot. By no means am I pessimistic about the kid, but it's about time we see more.

That stat proves what I've been watching; that Couturier's line has been the best at establishing an offensive zone presence. That he's done so with the competition faced, and continued to have those numbers despite Giroux's point streak says something.

It says: Don't ****ing trade Couturier.

As for seeing more, we already have in the last game or so. He's starting to assert himself and make plays. Remember. he's only 20. He still has a few seasons to go before he's in his prime.

Edit: As for your chart, I could make one of those for Giroux and Voracek...except with the orange line ending at a black arrow at center ice instead of the boards. The team has given themselves a lot more puck support at the breakout, but not nearly enough while entering a zone...it's a lot of one man shows.

That's one thing Boudreau teams were/are very good at; if you pressure the guy crossing the blue line, he'll have an outlet to drop it back to as well as a cross ice pass. The Flyers aren't really doing that.
