The Flames need to draft some good young, depth into their line up not trade what they have + futures for established NHLers.

For Stepan:
Your 1st + best prospect + good young roster player is a pretty good start

I'm fairly certain that nothing more really needs to be said. The trade forums are usually reserved for realistic-ish proposals and speculation and Calgary is not in the right place at this time to acquire any of the listed players while giving up any kind of reasonable return.

Furthermore, I don't quite understand why the OP selected the random sample of players that they did. Most of the players listed would not be given up by their respective teams; the only thing that they have in common is that they are relatively young but somewhat established players which Calgary does not necessarily need at this point if they are carrying out their immediate plans.

Seeing as there is no rationale behind their own post, only a vague question of valuation… that and the fact that they have posted only around twice a month since January, I don't feel this is an exercise worth carrying out. It's simply not a good idea for the Flames.

This. We are quite happy with the way we are currently drafting. The only way we end up picking up these type of players is if they are struggling and can be had for cheap (eg. Colborne).

as a canuck fan who used to hate flames, none of players mentioned are worth either Bart or Monahan, let alone adding on to them. bart maybe used for stephan, coots, myers but that's about it.

What world do you live in where a 23 year old center coming off a point per game season as a 22 year old with 145 points in 221 games isn't worth a 21 year old winger who's yet to establish himself as an NHLer (was scratched 2 games ago) and has 18 points total in the NHL?

Flames happily add significant in a Baertschi for Stepan trade.

Flames are off to a surprising start but their GAA is one of the worst in the league, once the offence comes back to earth they're going to struggle to stay out of being a lotto pick, I think it would be a huge mistake to move their 1st

Had to at the thought of the Piano Man heading back to Cowtown, I've got an autographed rookie pic of him that I couldn't give away his last season there, do you think anyone wants the real thing back?

Does Reilly seems fair for Monahan?

Lol at Phaneuf going back to Calgary.

It would be worth it just to see the fan reactions.

Not even close.

Reilly is a good prospect, but Monahan is lighting it up right now and has shown he will be a solid NHL Center for a LONG time.

It would take something stupid like Reilly + Kadri to get him.

Stepan is off limits unless Monahan+ is on the table. No point in us trading our best center for someone who might be that good someday if we're lucky. That's not a slight against Monahan, it's just where we are right now as a team.

Del Zotto could be had, but I don't think the right pieces are available from Calgary. Trading him for older players isn't what we're after.

Since it's Phaneuf the reaction would probably be greater but Tanguay, Cammalleri and Jokinen all coming back would have been more unusual circumstances in my opinion. Tanguay and especially Jokinen were close to run out of town their first tour. Cammalleri was called a small player or whatever from the GM as his departing words before being traded back by the new GM.

Phaneuf coming back would be doing so under new management, new coach, new leadership and if you believe the rumours non of the players he had an issue with are even there. The stigma is there but really ending up in LA, for example, would be more shocking. And it wasn't like Phaneuf had any ill parting words for the fan or Calgary, he was obviously shocked and upset about it.
