I don't know if he's faster than Klein but Klein is a better skater overall, IMHO.

I didn't realize how fast Smith was until this season.

I'm just trying to figure out what "slugs" Klein is paired with.

I didn't say Klein was paired with slugs, I was referring to Stalberg. Stalberg has been paired with Hendricks and Gaustad both of whom are the slowest on the team, besides Fisher right now, who is playing like he should still be out with an injury. And yes I consider Stalberg to be faster than Klein, unless Klein is one of the fastest guys in the league which I do not think.

It never ceases to amaze me how we use "one of the XXXXest" without empirical evidence. Klein does have a track record of being at or near the top of Pred speed testing when it is conducted though.

From the very limited viewings I've seen of Stalberg, I think he has faster straight line speed. Klein however, is better overall.

Totally off topic of the discussion going on here, but I just saw/read on twitter that Tom Callahan resigned from the radio broadcast for "personal reasons". I liked his pbp and excitement!!

It's listed as "personal reasons", but Management couldn't swing the ax on the trainer AGAIN after such a poor showing. Just sayin'......

As a fan, this sucks, because I really like Callahan and thought he was a great part of the crew. He was entertaining, personable, and knowledgeable. He will be tough to replace.

As a professional, this is my dream job, and I wish I had the résumé to land it so soon out of school. Unfortunately, I don't have any hockey PBP experience whatsoever and don't even know where to start looking.

This team will not move forward until Poile and Trotz are both gone. They have built teams that might have won a Cup in the "dead puck era", but not in today's NHL. You need a legit first line, one that is a threat to score every time they are on the ice. We don't have that and I'm not sure we ever did outside of the 9,10, 11 line.

Maybe we are spoiled but a lot of us are tired of one and dones. We have actually matured to the point where we want more and expect more. Maybe not be a favorite for the Cup but at least be. In the mix.

I thought Callahan was good. I wonder what the real story is behind this?

When Callahan is ready for us to know, hopefully he'll tell us.

Won't lie you could see it coming. When I went to the broadcast seminar the Preds hosted Callaghan did not paint the job in a rosy picture. Personal reasons seems like a good fit from what I saw

meaning the demands/travel were too much for someone with a family?

or working with the people he had to work with was unacceptable?

I could see it coming, too. His tweets had nothing to do with Nashville--they were general hockey related items from all over the league--and he hadn't been in the concourse for awhile. I thought maybe he wasn't on the air due to contractural stuff since the games weren't broadcast on our end, but was kind of surprised that I wasn't seeing him in the concourse.

Could be. He's currently employed by Fox Sports Ohio as a desk analyst and doing a nice job of it, but I'm not sure where his preferences lie w/r/t broadcasting.

Yeah, I have seen him on the Blue Jackets pre and post game shows- I can't imagine he wouldn't rather be doing play by play than studio hosting.

Probably not going to happen, but would be awesome if it did..

I hope Poile is shopping Ellis around. I just don't see him panning out as anything more than a good 3rd pairing D, best case scenario, and I feel like he has more trade value than that right now. Not sure how other teams see him, but I would be trying to move him if I were Poile.
