Alright as a last minute join on, we're doing this trial by fire. But that's probably the best way to learn how to do this.

Team Name - Greendale Human Beings (I LOVE Community)

Alright as my four catch up picks.

The Human Beings select

-Michael Nylander C
-Jonathan Quick G
-PK Subban D
-Lee John Fogolin Sr D

Now time for some serious research.

EDIT Switched out Hall with Nylander

I think Subban's still in the Taylor Hall bucket at this moment, but that might be just me. Otherwise... really solid, noob.

At least he's got a piece of hardware

If Karlsson was taken in the MLD, I think Subban can fit in here fine.

Thank you

I had Nylander as one of the best centers available, think he's a real good pick.

I like the Sorrell and Potvin selections a lot too.

Nylander and Fogolin are excellent picks at this level. Quick I see as an average started but a good pick up. Subban is probably as Seventies said, more of a Hall pick but a bit better in terms of career value.

TBH, the difference between Subban and Quick isn't really much. Hell, even someone like Kesler (who actually went in the ATD!) isn't that far off in longevity and is distinctly lower on peak.

Regina selects Kelly Hrudey, G.

I was pretty interested in taking Potvin as a starter this draft, but after missing out on him I decided to take a real good look at how he compares to Hrudey, and they’re quite similar goalies in terms of resume, with a slight edge to Hrudey for longevity and save percentages.

Hrudey ticks all the boxes for me:

-He was a workhorse, placing top-10 in minutes 4 times, including 1st in 1989
-He was able to post good short term save percentages, finishing top-10 six times including three top-5s
-He posted good long term save percentages, averaging 5 sv% points over the league average during his career
-His 677 career games are impressive, more so when you consider he played in the platoon era: he was the #1 over Billy Smith from 1984-1988 but those were the days you could be a “starter” and play 47 games
-His playoff record of 36-46 with 5 sv% points below league average isn’t stellar, but it’s actually not bad for a AAA goalie.
-He had great award recognition, finishing 3rd for the Vezina in 1988 (1-4-0), 4th in 1991 (0-2-2), 5th in 1986 (0-2-1), and with single votes in 87, 89, 92, and 94. Reporters weren’t quite as kind to him as the GMs, but he finished 6th, 7th, 8th in the seasons in which he got at least 5 votes.

It's not often a WHA forward gets to the top of my list. But Bernier was pretty close to the top for post expansion wingers.

First off to resilient beast I say you've done a good job of picking so far: Nylander's long been 1 of my favourites, Fogolin's a good pick as well and Routh is a great blast from the past at this level.

Second Kelly Hrudey was a guy I thought of picking when I went with Potvin. They are similar goalies in terms of what they did. It was between Potvin, Hrudey and 3 others for the Knights starting goalie spot.

Third off with our pick on Day 5 of the 2013 AAA draft the Atlanta Knights are proud to select defenseman Robert Picard

Picard had 423 points in 899 career NHL games.

Thanks, I was prepared for ATD, so I've been scouring the last couple AAA drafts and Bio threads creating a short lists thank goodness it's past midterm season I spent way too much time yesterday researching.

Dang, that’s a good pick. I had him at the top of my list with a bullet for spares, but that’s not to say he couldn’t play a role in a starting lineup. The fact that he played C (15%), LW (17%), RW (40%), and D (22%) in nearly equal proportion hurts him somewhat, I think, because he gets pigeonholed into a spare slot, and if he doesn’t make it into the MLD (which he definitely should have, considering the choice between him and Walter Smaill turned out to be a really difficult one and I left convinced that Smaill had what it took for an ATD spare role), then he might drop all the way to AAA spare. So kudos for making him a regular.
*
Jim Riley’s a guy who GMs keep getting seduced by since he was 2nd and 3rd in PCHA goals, (5th and 5th in points), but Tobin had a season in 3rd as well (3rd in points), and when he did it, he led his next highest teammate by 8 points. He didn’t have a second season to “support” that peak like Riley did, but on the whole, despite playing a lot of games on defense, Tobin had 131 points in 174 PCHA games, and Riley had 120 in 164 games.
*
I’d personally take Tobin over Riley for the versatility and because that versatility didn’t hurt his scoring stats. But the last three drafts he’s averaged pick #1266, and Riley’s averaged #942. That’s a huge, unwarranted gap. They both moved closer together (separated by just 53 picks now) and hopefully next season they swap spots for good.

Side note, I think you counted 1914 twice, as you're over on his career totals by 7 points and 14 games, and those were his stats that season.

I'll take a guy who was not only successful in the NHL, but also at the Senior Level when he was in competition with the likes of Moose Watson and Carson Cooper.

C - Bill Carson

According to the website justsportsstats.com They had Tobin with the following:
1912-13
12 Games 11 Goals 3 Assists
1913-14
14 Games 5 Goals 2 Assists
1914-15
18 Games 11 Goals 2 Assists
