Greene is a big physical defenseman and has a right-handed shot who's averaging 17min/game so far. I feel like he would be a great fit in this team for years to come.

2013-14
Murray - Subban
Markov - Greene
Emelin - Diaz

2014-15?
Tinordi - Subban
Markov - Emelin
Beaulieu - Greene
(if they sign for new contracts)

I would feel like our D would be more mean and physical while not losing our puckmoving ability too much. I don't think L.A. would accept that trade though.. and I haven't seen much of Greene on the ice so I don't know how much great/bad he is.
I hope you're joking right? If I told you that Gorges was captain and Shea Weber's defense partner in junior would you change your mind and value Gorges more?

I'd do DD for Erik Cole.

Trading Peter Budaj

I just wanted to hear your thoughts and have discussion on trading Peter Budaj. So before some of you crucify me. Here are some of my points as to why I think it may be wise

1. After his salary is up he will be in the 3 Million dollar range...For a backup?
2. His ceiling has never been higher ( I am not saying teams are lining up for a very good backup) but I think a team like Edmonton would give up something useful to us possibly
3. We could use a bigger guy in top 6 or a good stay at home D

Now some of the negatives about trading him such as:

1. Who will be our backup Takarski?
2. price may have to take on more games

I don't really have a trade in mind at the top of my head, but if you guys may have trade proposals you think may work for both teams. Budaj could possibly be used in a package deal even?

Budaj will get you literally nothing of value in a trade with guys like Theodore and Bryzgalov still sitting at home, and he's in a perfect situation with Montreal that appears to be working for both sides...so what's the point?

What?

He is under contract for next season at 1.4M too....
3M for a backup?

He has no trade value.

He likes it here. He has no value on the market. End of discussion.

You are either underrating Budaj or overrating those other two jokers.

But I agree, he is in a great situation at the moment.

I always enjoy seeing a poster who arbitrarily decides when a discussion should end.

Well when I read someone suggesting something as ridiculous as Budaj's salary being in the 3 million range once his current deal ends, I decide I've seen enough.

If you don't think Budaj will make close to 3 mill and possibly more on market if he continues to play this well by time contract ends, well then I believe you are the one that is sadly mistaken. End of discussion

Find me one goalie in Budaj's situation who went on to make that much money.

that statement is invalid because the discussion was already over

I can, if only so that we can see the effects of Bournival and Gallagher living and training together. More reps, more protein powder, let's try this supplement and now lets try to explain this to Therrien, lol.

Why would Budaj make anywhere close to 3 million?

I think Id pay half of that at most.
