I agree, I like Gards. It's not a question of how well he's playing, but he seems like a very valuable piece that management may see as unnecessary. He's also been great defensively the past few games.

As for Rielly, my expectations are a little high, but I am impressed with his play and realize he's a rookie. I said I'd like to see more production and I'm sure you all would to, it was more of a statement then a criticism. His minutes have been steadily increasing aswell.

Really? That looked clean in from the replay. I'll have to go take another look.

EDIT: yep, off Kadri. Was going wide otherwise

Rielly knew immediately that it went off Kadri and pointed at him after he scored.

I want Morgan Rielly to be our Duncan Keith. That's how high the expectations I have of him are.

That's the ceiling comparison. Elite skater with offensive skills who is over 200lbs and plays a great defensive game as well.

Will he reach that, or even pretty close to it? Impossible to say. But he definitely seems to be more of a two-way guy like Keith as opposed to an elite offensive guy like Letang (in terms of potential, not in terms of what he's doing right now..).

I am surprised at his play in his own end. He often looked lost in his own end in Jr. To me he actually looks more comfortable with out the puck in the NHL than he did in Jr.

Now he has an equally serviceable d-partner, in junior it was really just Rielly and associates. That team was horrible.

Rielly will learn....takes time. The kid will be fine.
Had some pretty sick moves tonight. He's getting a good amount of chances, but the finish isn't there. No doubt the points will come further down the line.
