Well we've learned that stubborn coaching + stubborn players = complete disaster.
Forget first line, second line, third line crap, we just need a checking line of vets that still has a chance to score to go out against the other team's best line. Maybe a line like Hemsky, Gordon, Perron (when not "sick").
I used to think that guys like Eberle, Nuge and Yakupov didn't want to play defense but maybe on top of that they simply can't stop other teams top lines right now. It looks like they don't even know how, they don't even know where to go.
Throwing these guys into the deep end repeatedly is not going to make them better players. They're just going to get bitter, give up and abandon the system. No one likes being embarrassed by their friends and Eberle, Yak, Hall, Nuge and whoever is getting embarrassed right now. Put those guys on two lines against the B and C grade competition.
Eakins wants to ride those guys hard and play them in all situations but they're not ready yet. Put them in a spot to succeed not fail or he'll lose the room in record time.
Renney and Krueger must be howling right now if they even bother to care.

We just need to trade for Weber, Crosby and Lundquist. That should solve our problems,
What we need to do is draft an Eric Lindros. Get a skating coach to get Belov to the level of Scotty Niedermayer. Get the whereabouts of the rumored Hasek-Roy love child. Do that and Lowe's knowledge of winning will take us all the way up to mediocrity!
