He also has the worst On Ice SV% of any defenseman by a decent margin too.

Bachman has managed to get it up to .837 for him.

Keep Nuge, Gordon, nurse and start the RE-REBUILD!
Pointing out the rest of the team hasn't been good doesn't make your comment that Hemsky is somehow redeemable off this roster valid.

He's a 30 year old vet making 5 million a year who isn't contributing anything on the ice.

Ehrhoff and Foligno would look good for you guys.

Not sure about Buff. With your type of game, his skating woes would be exposed even more than on the Jets. Bogosian on the other hand would be lovely on the team, but he'd cost you a ton.

Nope he's a non broken defensive prospect. We can use our 1st or 2nd for that.

I'd also argue our goal tending would look less like ass in front of competent defense.

Until free agency we're stuck with what we have.

I see no argument where you can tell me that Petry isn't our best defenseman. However, tonight was a rough one. He's been very good lately though, minimal lapses and his flashes of brilliance get me excited

The last thing Oiler fans need is the phony concern from fans of other teams... chirping away with pretend pity, etc.

So, I will try to avoid that.

But two things:

One, there are teams with worse players that are playing better than Edmonton.

Two, the best coach I have seen with the Oilers in the last decade was MacT. I wonder, if this gets much worse, whether he will remove Eakins and step in.

I want someone mean and nasty on the back who is a bit of a risk (obviously). A lot less of a risk than someone like Myers. He CAN be very good is the thing. Maybe Eakins can make him do some marathons to stave off the the effects of big macs?

well if it's any consolation... when you tank, it's better to tank all the way... all or nothing tank. that's when change occurs.

It seemed to me like Nuge turned at the very last second. Franson extended his shoulder in a desperate attempt to make contact. Incidental contact in my opinion.

And regarding Nugent-Hopkins being "punched" in the head; maybe if he was a little stronger on the puck near his blueline in OT, that goal wouldn't have happened.

He also has this thing about ripping the team pregame but trying to deflect the blame postgame. Can't have it both ways, this team simply sucks and guys aren't being put in the position to succeed.

Gordon is great if you utilize it. He should be used as McClement is except with added time for key faceoff situations. If you can get that kind of impact out of him, I think he is worth the 3 mil.

Ference is a system guy. In a good system he is great, in a bad system he is average. If you do manage to turn things around for next season, he'll be a very valuable player for you.
There were some nice plays today by Yak, I just haven't seen the same player since the scratches.

I would be a much bigger Gordon fan if he didn't cost the 3M. If our PK wasn't in the toilet, then maybe I'd like him better despite the salary.

Exactly right on Ference, and this is a bad system. Even if we turn it around, we can't depend on him to right the ship as the premiere defensive D, and I kinda believe MacT thought of him as that premiere guy when he signed him.

Both your points relate to one another. Mac t coached a less talented roster and ended up with a better product. The difference is will versus skill. The day this team carries both traits is the day we become contenders.

We essentially invented the tank. We're going into uncharted tank territories.

Do the computation. He's still be leading the league in GA with a good save % behind him.

What then? Just the worst luck on a bad club?

maybe he's giving up point-blank chances right in front of the goalie?

Ference is a premier D?

Oh and don't worry folks, I just came from lurking in the lol trade forum, and the Oiler fans there think our top 4 D-men are all "solid".

Law of averages and the Oilers time is coming again. Book it. Put money on it and cash in. We will all be rewarded.
