You might want to take a look at the TOI Gardiner has been getting recently.
He will be on the first pairing sometime this season.
I agree, I like Gards. It's not a question of how well he's playing, but he seems like a very valuable piece that management may see as unnecessary. He's also been great defensively the past few games.
As for Rielly, my expectations are a little high, but I am impressed with his play and realize he's a rookie. I said I'd like to see more production and I'm sure you all would to, it was more of a statement then a criticism. His minutes have been steadily increasing aswell.
I want Morgan Rielly to be our Duncan Keith. That's how high the expectations I have of him are.
That's the ceiling comparison. Elite skater with offensive skills who is over 200lbs and plays a great defensive game as well.
Will he reach that, or even pretty close to it? Impossible to say. But he definitely seems to be more of a two-way guy like Keith as opposed to an elite offensive guy like Letang (in terms of potential, not in terms of what he's doing right now..).
