I can't believe the other two songs have 42% of the vote combined. I hate SNA and given these choices I would pick it every single time over the other two.

As a Canadian I apologize for Monster Truck who hail from 45 minutes away from me and I never heard of them until this.

Teams don't trade picks for Fayne type players at the trade deadline.

What did Dallas get for Jagr from Boston? If he continues to play the way he's been playing and were sellers, I don't see why we wouldn't get the same type of return.

GM's will often tend to get desperate deadline day

A target player of theirs might get moved, a deal might fall through, a recent injury to a player on his team, $$ tied up to make a move, and a bunch of other factors will cause GM's as we've seen plenty of times, give up more than they should because they need to fill a role on their team to push forward to the playoffs

We traded a PL3 for a 5th at a random time during the season, perhaps Calgary owed Lou a favor or two still from Lou allowing them to speak with Sutter, but regardless, if you don't think Fayne could net a 2nd or a 3rd...on deadline day...c'mon

Says who?

Are you aware of the market around the deadline? Fayne is a solid 2nd pairing d-man and you can squeeze out a 2nd from a team who's lacking talent on their blueline.

No team views Fayne as a solid 2nd pairing d-man. The devils don't even view him as that since he been healthy scratch the past two years. There will be better D with a better career available for the 2nd rounder.

then what do they trade?

You don't give players back the other way when the other team is selling off. They absolutely give up picks trying to win now with who they have.

I think Fayne will get us a 3rd and 4th. That's not bad value at all really. Hope he gets a second, but I'm not gonna guarantee it.

Look how we got Salvador. Cam Janssen (worthless) and Salvador had many more games than Fayne.

Only God knows why he got scratched at the start of the year, so let's not assume that a regular 2nd pairing d-man for our team for the past several seasons is worth as much as PL3, who got us a 5th.

If Fayne is only worth a 4th or less, for whatever reason, I'd rather keep him and try to convince him to resign instead of doing another team a favour that won't be worth it on our side.

I think you are sorely mistaken

our coach being a moron doesnt justify Fayne's benching

St. Louis was next to last in the West when they made that deal and Cam hadn't played a game with the Devils that year - he was in the AHL and playing sometimes. It was a deal to get him back up to the NHL in his hometown in St. Louis where he dressed just 2 days later and was a crowd favorite. Local boy comes home.

Lou needed a D and the Blues were stocked at D with 9 guys playing 20+ games that year and Roman Polak ready to come up full time so they had no plans to re-sign Salvador so they got the local boy that could protect the young and upcoming talent. It was a friendly deal with Davidson that helped the Devils and Cam alike. It was not a normal deadline trade done to build picks in exchange for helping a cup run. And if you recall, everyone laughed at the wink wink nod nod nature of the deal. The Blues also traded Christian Backman to the Rangers for a 4th rounder at the same time and he had almost identical stats to Salvador at the time and played against us that year in the playoffs. That's the typical deadline deal.

If you don't think a team with injuries at D heading into the final stretch would want Fayne for a draft pick then fine - but the track record speaks for itself.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/eventhome.htm...012/experience

awful lot of draft picks being swapped for D there.

Trades from last season:

Douglas Murray got two 2nds.
Ryan O'Bynre got a 4th.
Davis Drewiske got a 5th.
TJ Brennan got a 5th.
Keaton Ellerby got a 5th.
Ben Lovejoy got a 5th.
Make Fistric got a 3rd.

Fayne is easily better than Lovejoy, Ellerby, Drewiske and Brennan.

His value is probably a 3rd.

Trading Zid isn't an easy thing to do because what he brings to the team offensively likely can't be replaced right now by anyone else on the blueline. Gelinas has shown flashes, but he's a four game or so rookie. Larsson is just getting some swagger back. Everyone else is close to black holes offensively aside from Greene, who is merely treading water trying not to be sucked in as well.

Clearing that spot for Fayne seems foolish right now, and it's hard to argue it would help in the future at the deadline. By that point, is it worth trading Zid to open up a roster spot for Fayne? I'd rather keep sitting Harrold, personally, or giving the vets a few days off here and there to keep the kids in.

Paul Gaustad returned a 1st two years ago. That's really all you need to know about how wacky GM's get at the deadline. Same thing with the Murray trade last year. Every deadline teams massively overpay. Fayne could easily get a 2nd.

If we are out of it we trade Zids and Jagr, and ya maybe Fayne too. Hopefully we aren't though.

2013 Deadline deals:
Robyn Regher to LA for two 2nd rounders
Ryan O'Byrne to Toronto for a 4th
Davis Drewiske to Montreal for a 5th
Jay Bouwmeester to St Louis for a 1st + 2 prospects
Jordan Leopold to St Louis for a 2nd + 5th
Douglas Murray to Pittsburgh for a 2nd + conditional 2nd/3rd

2012 Deadline deals:
Johnny Oduya to Chicago for 2nd + 3rd
Marek Zidlicky to NJ for two roster players, minor leaguer, 2nd + 3rd
(A) Kyle Quincey to Tampa for Steve Downie
(B) Kyle Quincey to Detroit for a 1st rounder
Nicklas Grossman to Philly for 2nd + 3rd rounder

But yeah, no one would trade for Fayne. Wake up.
