NY Rangers have had discussions with Vinny Prospal

this is from a few days ago, but I only heard about it just now.

The Post has learned Sather has had conversations with Prospal, who is training in the Czech Republic, and his representative. There is no indication the GM is prepared to offer Prospal a contract, but at the same time it does not seem as if he has shut the door on that possibility.

I'm wondering if this would hinge on the play of Chris Kreider. I mean, if Kreider is playing well, there's no reason to bump him out of a spot on a scoring line, to make room for a 38-year-old UFA.

Love Vinny, but not sure he has the speed any more to keep up.

Kreider has been playing really well since being called up. 1g and 1a in 4 games and has been creating a lot of chances and playing strong on the forecheck. 9 shots on goal in those 4 games and many of them high quality.

Right now he looks like an improved version of what he showed in the playoffs 2 years ago. Hopefully he can keep it up.

I'm sure Sather has reached out, but don't see this happening.

God, no. Don't even want VP back to replace Pyatt, let alone regress Kreider.
Remember, this is the last ELC on Kreider, we have to make it count.
