The Oilers Positivity Thread!

I know... This season has been dreadful. It seems we can't catch any breaks, and we certainly don't seem to be making our own breaks.

We have so many threads dedicated to what is wrong with this team. I thought, as a change of pace, we could have a thread dedicated to recognizing the positives of the season thus far.

I understand that people will want to come in here and lambast me for such heresy, post sarcastic musings, and so on, but I think it will be good for our collective mental health to recognize the few good things we have seen thus far.

I'll start:
- Belov looks to be a good pickup as a 4/5 at no cost.
- RNH sure is good at lifting sticks and avoiding a lot of the runs people take at him. A really slippery player.

Wipe your tears, boys. It's only 11 months till next season

We have enough pieces to finally make a trade or two to balance the lineup.

One last high Draft pick would make a RW expendable for a d-man.

Nurse isn't too far away, and having a killer year.

Hemsky is proving disposable, making the choice of whether to sign him rather easy.

Dubnyk is going to be fine.

Gordon and Perron are winners.

That's all I got.

Nick Schultz has looked great.

Still not much puck movement beyond ringing it around the boards, but he's playing physical and without many hiccups defensively.

Here's the positive: these players the oilers have accumulated through the draft have value to other teams via trade because they can be successful individually, but not on the same team. We can start moving them for some really good veterans now.

Hemsky has been an effective two-way player this year. He should be getting more minutes.

5 on 5 scoring has improved.

Faceoffs have improved.

Perron has been a welcome addition to the team.

Belov has been fairly solid.

Petry has been one of our leaders on the d-line, imo

Gordon has been very effective

Smyth has been fine, not terrible.

Eager has been an improvement over Brown in terms of ability to play, while Gazdic can fight and also skate pretty well.

That's all I got.

We should have a somewhat healthy team by the Phily game! That's one.

Oh, and Joensuu has been good when he's played.

And Boyd Gordon.

Boyd Gordon is as good as advertised

Arcobello is much better then I thought

Nurse looks to be a beast on the rise

The Nuge back is a thing of beauty.

Belov and Arco. More hitting, esp. big ones, from many players. And Perron has been an upgrade on PRV for sure.

Tyler Pitlick might not be a complete failure of a draft pick.

Nick Schultz can play physically from time to time.

Boyd Gordon can win faceoffs.

RNH hasn't been killed by any predatory hits yet.

This is hard to do.

Positives:
RNH has been quite good.
Eberle has been really good most of the time.
Dubnyk has been kinda turning it around
Gordon has been excellent.
Arcobello has been surprisingly good
Nurse looked really good in training camp
Bachman looked great
Easkins has some pretty good hair
Belanger retired from the NHL

Some new guys are looking good..

Gordon, Joensuu, Perron and Belov seem like solid pickups so far.
Ference has been a decent one too..

Hemsky, Bachman, Gazdic and Arcobello have been pleasant surprises..

Yak is starting to come around... Nuge as well..

Gagner is back and Hall is not too far away..

We can potentially be adding Hall, Perron and Joensuu to the lineup we played vs Leafs in a week.
