Comparisons Of Select Habs !!

A light hearted thread here.

The following players have distinct styles each of their own. I know it's very early
obviously in their careers, however their play can be recognizable to successful players.

Who would you say each player closely compares to, past or present NHLers . . .

A) Higgs

B) Perez.

C) Pleks

D) Komi

Higgz resembles Iginla Sometimes.
Perez shows some flashes of Afinogenov
Plekanec plays like plekanec, he's so friggin unique it's weird.
Komi is like Hatcher with mobility.

A) Drury with better scoring touch and vision
B)Afinogenov but Afi is a lot more solid on his skate.
C)Really don't know... Name a center with speed, grit, playmaking but 0 finish
D)Scott Hannan but more physical

Higgins -> Tough to say...sorta like a hybrid between Gagne, Drury and Smyth
Perezhogin -> Also tough to say...maybe a less flashy, stronger version of Afinogenov
Plekanec -> A slightly less talented Koivu
Komisarek -> A young Scott Stevens minus the offensive prowess

Wins!

My picks :
Higgins - A lot like Drury / Rolston; but could explode and be more like Marian Hossa
Perezhogin - In my opinion, he has Kovalev-like upside if he can strenghten his body but it's more likely that he'll be Oleg-Petrov #2
Plekanek - Play style not entirely unlike Carbonneau's with smoother hands. Not as many intangibles though.
Komisarek - Ruslan Salei

A) Higgs -Gagne,Lehtonen,Morrow, a 2 way player who 'gets' how the game should be played.

B) Perez.-- I haven't bought into the Afinogenov comparisons. Maybe Axellson or Arveddson in that he's a tenacious checker with an offensive upside. Not what we want to imagine but right now that's what he does and pretty well. If he becomes more, great.

C) Pleks-- Brylin,Rejean Houle, guy with good skills, a river skater whose hands may not catch up with his feet but is valuable and can play anywhere when needed, though may never put up #'s.

D) Komi
A bit of a stretch, but on his best nights, a bit of Langway. Needs to be a bit more assertive moving forward with the puck. [stole that from Mike 8, but he was right]

Typical Hab fan, you set the bar too high then whine when he doesn't meet your lofty expectations. Talk to me when Komi's brothers Wayne and Floyd make it to the big show.

I hesitated between Hillman and Ted Harris for Komi.

If he could throw 'em like Ted harris, he'd be canonized already. You know, now that I think about it, Terry Harper isn't a bad comparison, though not as painfully awkward.

I don't think Komi will ever be as under-rated as Harper was.

Since no one can find a good comparison to Plekanec, I would say Kapanen, great two-way player and has some offensive skills but doesn't finish his plays.

Obviously I'm comparing them to what their absolute max potential appears to be so their counterparts should be great players.

A) Higgs - Jere Lehtinen. similar size, can skate, known for defensive prowess and usually score as many goals, if not more, as assists.

B) Perezhogin - Marian Hossa. Lightning fast, great two way player, least likely comparison to happen.

C) Plekanec - Saku Koivu. Current Koivu, not Koivu before injuries which is still a treat to watch. They also both have the lack of a good shot.

D) Komisarek - Robyn Regehr. Big punishing D who can skate but will not likely put big numbers.

Bang on, I was raking my brain about this, and couldn't come up with a good one but Brylin is a good comparaison.
