I love this! Great idea, there really have been quite a few positives they just have not worked together to translate into wins yet

1) RNH returned sooner than expected and has been one of our best players

2) We're outshooting other teams on a consistent basis

3) Outside of a few brain farts, Petry has been quite good

4) Belov is at least an NHLer and was acquired free

5) Boyd Gordon

6) Face-offs

7) Arcobello looks like he could be an NHLer

8) While it's unlikely he's the answer, Bachman looks like he's a guy who can at least be a backup

9) Perron looks like he was a good pickup

10) We got rid of Mike Brown - thank god

11) Pitlick, Joensuu, and others that no one expected much from, have looked promising

12) Smyth hasn't been awful and Hemsky has improved

13) Dubnyk broke out of his horribad mode

Gagner is 72% on the dot this season

Gordon is 2nd in the league in faceoff wins and tops the league fowards in blocked shots (10 more blocks than the next best forward).

Perron is top 20 in league for shots on goal

- Hall has been average but he still produces at PPG
- Petry has been rock solid
- Nick Schultz has been 10 times the player that he was one year ago
- Belov was great pick up
- Gordon is a warrior
- Marcobello has been the biggest surprise
- Love the amount of blocked shots and hits
- Faceoffs
- Hemsky has been great

-We haven't seen a healthy top 6 yet.
-Arcobello has been a nice surprise. Same for Belov. Both are capable of being productive as depth players.

In order, new acquisitions I have been impressed with:

Nurse, Perron, Joensuu, Gordon, Gadzic, Pitlik & Belov

Players coming up:

Klefbom, Marincin, Khaira

This season sucks hard no doubt, but our performance will turn around in the foreseeable future which hasn't been the case since 1992 (except 2005/6).

Pros:

I don't own season tickets!
We're winning face-offs
Our 5 on 5 has been pretty good.
Our special teams play can only get better.
Our goaltending can only get better.
We've got so many forwards that we could afford to trade 2 top 6 forwards.

The team is #1 in blocking shots, if I recall. Hasn't exactly helped much, but for a team that is so "passive", I feel that is a pretty big bright spot.

Nurse has 15 pts in 12 gp
Won't be eligible for the AHL next year and too good for junior so he should be on the team next year

What kind of cheese are we talking here? Processed? Cheddar? Swiss? Mozza?

If it was swiss, it wouldn't be positive news.

Yak is starting to come around... Nuge as well..

Gagner is back and Hall is not too far away..

We can potentially be adding Hall, Perron and Joensuu to the lineup we played vs Leafs in a week.
not sure if i agree on Yak, but the rest i'm down with.

5 on 5 scoring... eventually we will get our pp back to normal with all the skill we have and we will be a top scoring team.
Nurse looks great in the minors and looked great here he adresses all the problems on our d a good break out pass and is mean enough to move people from in front of our net.

The biggest positive that I can see is that our 5 on 5 play has improved significantly. That is huge. If our special teams can get to where they were last season, or better, this team is going to win significantly more hockey games.

I'm a bigger supporter of Eakins now than I was at the beginning of the season. As a fan, I'm buying in to what he's trying to accomplish. He's got a long-term vision for the team, and he's the most determined coach that I've seen in a long while. He's taking the shortest route possible toward this team's success, but he isn't taking any short cuts either.

I also think that we have a GM who knows the score, and he doesn't seem prepared to do anything stupid, which is a relief to me. I think that he would trade anyone from our line up, don't get me wrong, but I also don't foresee him making any foolish trades. A reactionary move that saw us on the losing side of a major deal would be a huge step backwards as a franchise, so I'm glad that our GM seems prepared to wait until he can get full value in return for any of our star young players. I really think that we are only a couple of trades away from becoming a competitive team right now, but it has to be the right one or two trades.

It's hard to watch sometimes (much of the time, actually), but staying the course is important. I do see a light at the end of the tunnel here, and, like other fans on here, I can't wait to be basking in the warm glow of that light for years to come!
