Many Jerseys Are Being Updated!!!

I was in a hockey store today in Milford CT buying hockey equipment for the first time in 20 years (I need to get more exercise..lol) and I was talking to one of the owners who turns out to have a very close friend in the NHL marketing department.

I aked him about the new team jersey's that Bettman was going to reveal during the NHL All-Star weekend in Dallas.

He told me that the only the Phoenix and Anaheim jerseys were not going to be touched other than they will be using the new material and the tapered jersey look.

What was interesting is that the other jersey's are going to be modernized, which MAY include tweaking the logo! He said that the NYR will be one of the teams that will have their jersey "modernized" but he didn't know about the other teams, but he was told the cast majority would be. I wonder if that will include changes made to the "third jerseys", which don't seem to be used as much as they used to be.

Being a DIE-HARD old time Habs fan, part of me doesn't want the famed "CH" touched, but I would be open to a MINOR change to modernize it. It has been a long time since that was done, as long as it's TASTEFUL change and the colors have not been tampered with. It must have "blue, blanc et rouge" and the famous CH... after all, it's one of the most recognized and sacred symbols in all of sports!!

Damn I just got myself a jersey recently. Oh well, at least it'll become "retro" or "old school"

Yup, I'm gonna have to complete my collection with the Habs home white before they bring out the space suits.

edit: I guess it's the away white now... Still used to calling it their home jersey.

I read in the Toronto Star that the leafs will be updating their logo. Not sure what that means.

This will be a major test for the NHL to know if they will go foward with the jerseys next season, don't buy them.

It will be up to the players and fans to complain enough. Look at basketball, millions where sunk into a new ball, the players hated it and now they are going back to the old.

Why don't you guys wait to see the jerseys before complaining about them? Personally, I can't wait to see them. I like the jerseys that were worn at the olympics and think it will look good in the NHL.

I agree, let's keep an open mind. Surely the NHL knows how important it is for the orignal 6 teams to keep their basic logo and team colors.

The other team besides the Ducks and Yotes that won't be touched is the Sabres with their yellow humping possum.

I bought my last Habs jersey, so I have all three. I don't know what name and number to put on it, although I am leaning towards #21 Higgins.

My favorite is the so called old jersey with have #11 Koivu on it.

The red jersey has #44 and use to have the name bar Richer, but I put my name on it a few years back...At least I know I WON"T BE TRADED.

Although the NHL is defining the new jersey style (fabric, fit, etc.), I highly doubt they are designing them. This is always the team's business. If the Habs have an ugly jersey, it'll be the Habs organisation's fault...not the NHL.

No offense, but this reeks of "friend of a friend of a friend". I agree with Ludo, and very much doubt they're going to change the Habs logo.
