GDT: Ottawa @ Nashville - 8pm A-Channel

OTTAWA SENATORS AT NASHVILLE PREDATORS

8:00 A-CHANNEL

The Nashville Predators are already one of the NHL's best home teams. Getting two of their best players back from injury would only make them better.

Nashville could have forwards Jason Arnott and Steve Sullivan in the lineup Thursday when it tries to continue its strong play at home in a matchup with the Ottawa Senators.

David Legwand scored with 2:45 left in regulation Tuesday, lifting the Predators to a 3-2 victory over Edmonton.

Nashville (19-8-3) entered the game having lost three of four on the road, but Legwand's goal helped the Predators earn at least one point in their 10th straight home game. They are 7-0-3 at the Gaylord Entertainment Center since a season-opening loss to Chicago, and are the only NHL team with only one regulation home loss.

Senators goaltender Ray Emery was brilliant with 43 saves, and the Senators scored three goals in a 5:01 span of the second period Tuesday in a 3-2 victory at Detroit.

Emery was matched up against former teammate and good friend Dominik Hasek.

"He was the dominant player, there's no question," said Ottawa coach Bryan Murray. "You talk about matchups, and all the headlines today, Ray stepped up to the play and played outstanding."

Jason Spezza had two goals for Ottawa (16-15-1), which had been outscored 15-5 during a three-game losing streak.

Spezza has eight goals and seven assists during a 10-game point streak.

The Senators also have been without two key players in captain Daniel Alfredsson and defenseman Wade Redden.

Alfredsson has missed the last four games with a hip injury, while chest and shoulder injuries have kept Redden out of the lineup each of the past six contests.

The Senators have won two straight against the Predators, but they have lost the last two meetings in Nashville.

that's... a lot of injuries

though usually when a team looks like they have lost too many players they pull out a few wins making everybody do this:

come on cut a girl some slack.

It's hard to type when I'm blasting and singing country music.

It's fun sitting in the kitchen with the laptop and no one can hear me sing along. oh man i think i woke up the neighbour's baby twin boys.

Preds got a huge lift in getting Legwand back last game, and get an even bigger one when Arnott and Sullivan return tonight.

Isn't this the first game since our alliance, last spring?

It's like running into your ex-girlfriend...you try to be polite, but isn't it awkward?

We're going to get killed I think.

What is it about December and losing a whole bunch of players...

Nashville hasn't been having great luck either it seems.

Even worse in our case... you guys are still looking good, but apparently we've gained weight, lost our job and developed some sort of visible rash.

Take us back, we'll appreciate you more this time, baby.

Ok, now this thread really is getting awkward.

Anton can block "like four million shots". Because Schubert says he can.

At least losing to Nashville is better than losing to the Leafs, or whatnot.

Yay optimism!

Nah, if Nashville gets 40+ shots and we have like 12 we'll win.

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life's a piece of ****
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

If we can get this to OT, that would be good. To get 3 points out of 4 between Detroit and Nashville would be great. We should be healthier for Saturday and after that, we'll only have 7 road games between Sunday and Feb. 22nd when we return to HSBC. Granted, our road record has been better then our home.

I don't know if I'd go that far. Sometimes it seems like we could beat the 76 Canadiens... but we'd lose against the 74 Capitals a couple days later.

It's funny how I'm legal before you and you're almost a year older than me.

February 17th! 18 years of age. And legal drinking age here in Alberta.

Well we might be moving to Alberta!

seriously. Mum lost her job and no one wants hardwood flooring (besides volchenkov who doesn't know how to use a phone apparently and leave his number on a machine...) so we have like zeeeerrrooo moneys.

"Thank you for calling Ottawa Quality Flooring. At the time of your call we're unavailable but if you leave you name, number and time of your call we'll get back to you."

I know. That schedule is crazy. To put it a bit differently, after this road trip, we have 21 home games and only 8 road games between next week and the end of February, including only 3 road games in all of January. This stretch will likely end up being the making or breaking of this team (in terms of the regular season standings anyway).
