He's the same size as RNH.

Both are 6'1 and 185 pounds.

yes,but still,6'1 and 185 pounds in your draft year doesn't seem to be that big.

Aaron Ekblad is what I would consider being big as he's 6'4 and 220 pounds.

He would be a fine choice too.

But this organization has to address our center depth, or lack of it. After RNH we have nothing for the top six.

We have Gagner. Our defense needs serious help though, so we should pick Ekblad

So what? Gagner is garbage. We will never win anything with him as a center in our top six. Im not against picking Ekblad should the opportunity arise, but we still have to address the center position.

The best things that the Oilers can do are:

draft Ekblad in 2014
draft McDavid in 2015

done.

Number 1 defenseman-Check
Center depth solved,Sam Gagner gone-check

This is most likely how it plays out. Who's looking good for 2016?

With how bad Buffalo is playing,it seems as though the lowest this team can go is 2nd overall.Which pretty much gives the Oilers Ekblad.

1.Reinhart
2.Ekblad

Really don't see Buffalo taking Ekblad over Reinhart since they lack a number 1 centerman.

What about '17? We would have a nice core with Hall/Eberle/RNH/Yakupov/Nurse/Ekblad/McDavid/Day/someone else.

Maybe there's an up and coming dynasty goaltender.

There's none from what I've come across in 2017.

Just more defensemen and forwards.

Whether the pick is 1, 10 or wherever, it's an absolute fail if they don't deal the pick.
I don't care at all about adding another prospect. If McDavid was in this draft, that would be a different story but there doesn't seem to be any surefire franchise players in this draft so deal the damn pick for immediate help. I want to see if MacT's motto of being an "Impatient Man" holds true or if it's just a bunch of hot air. Enough with the BS already and start improving this team immediately.

Also, the Oilers' website has Nuge listed at 180, and in an early season interview (I think it was the day of, or the day after, he was announced to be back in the lineup) he said he was around 175. Reinhart is bigger now at 17 than RNH is at 20. Neither player is done growing, but there's every reason to believe that Reinhart will be a fair bit bigger by the time they are.

This is the year where the Oilers shouldn't deal the pick.Last year's draft was where we should've dealt the pick.

Ekblad or possibly Reinhart fit glaring needs where the Oilers most likely won't fill if they were to deal this pick.Drafting yet another winger last year didn't serve a purpose as our center depth sucks and we have problems on the blue line.

Reinhart is the next Jonathan Toews IMO. He may not be a top 5 or top 10 scorer but he can beat you in every area of the ice and is the perfect compliment to our forward group (he's probably the perfect compliment to any forward group). Nothing against Ekblad (who, admittedly, I haven't really seen much of), but Reinhart is the clear class of this draft to me.

Last draft I thought of Monahan as Toews lite.

I haven't seen Reinhart play, can you elaborate on why you think he's Toews-like?

When I think of Toews, I see him as the ultimate gamer. He simply wins battle through a mix of determination, skill, and more determination. He's never not battling, competing, and he just has that undeniable but indescribable "it" quality. Things get done when he's on the ice. Ridiculous two-way game.

From what I gather about Reinhart, I don't think he has the physical components that make Toews what he is. Patrice Bergeron maybe?

Obviously we'd want to draft Ekblad... but if Mac-T failed to find a trade to make to deal the pick away with some other pieces to get our roster into proper shape then I'd expect to see him resign for doing his Tambo impression.

Not hardly. He is a RNH level passer with a sniper's shot to boot. He isnt afraid to go to the dirty areas and he is very responsible defensively.

Regardless of what our center depth looks like right now, I'm not drafting one in the first round this year. Either you: pick Ekblad given the opportunity OR deal the pick as part of a package to aquire a high level defenseman.

I think we all believe that Gagner isn't the answer long-term as a 2C. BUT those kinds of players can be had in free agency much more easily than a top pairing defenseman.

Plus, what good is another talented forward going to do us if our d-core is still bad?

We have enough defensive prospects in the system.

Reinhart or bust.

if this team is picking 2nd Overall, Katz should just move them to Seattle

We don't have a number 1 defenseman for the future and that's what Ekblad is projected to be.

Either Reinhart or Ekblad will fill a need.
