That's a beauty of a trade by Holmgren. He just replaced a guy with no business in the top 9 for a guy who can potentially play up in the top 6.

Only concern is Downie's injury history.

There has to be a pick involved. You don't just turn 4th liners into top-6 players with a 1-1 swap

Yep, 3.829 mil before the trade, which should have opened up about 5ish for Downie. Downie makes 2.65

If memory serves me correctly, he did play some on the Stamkos line. I think the lines often switched around but he was top 2 lines.

Max always played his ass off and I appreciate his effort, but I'm excited to see Downie back with the Flyers.

The fact that Avs fans are not pleased with this trade is making me happy.

I like Max; he's good character guy and hope he does well in Denver.

Downie improves the top nine and he's one of the league's best forecheckers. Hopefully his injury history doesn't follow him back to Philly.

not sure how I feel about this honestly. Dont we already have enough of what Downie brings?

EDIT: dont get me wrong, The Flyers win this deal, I just question if we already have enough of what he brings. I do like Downie tho. so welcome back.
Good luck to Talbot. He was a solid pro here and did everything that was asked of him. Not his fault he was thrust into a role he didnt belong in.

Man I am at work and checked the trade board and thought it was actually cam talbot because of the problems with varly. Holy moly did we get downie for nothing. There must be some problem with him there in Colorado for then to just let him go so easily. How's colorados pk?

This is confusing....not sure what to think of it. Another recycled former Flyer..this team must lead the league with that. Gervais' friend hasn't looked too good but still a very good PK guy. I think he will pick it back up in Colorado. Downie at least has upside on offense which we need but worry about injuries. This may be a lateral move...

I wonder if we can ship Gervais to Colorado too....
