Pretty much. I knew this would happen with O'brien. Agh him voting for the train last week was to good to be true.

in the end it wouldn't matter, with the federal and provincial governments backing out we would not have the funds to continue the project.

It was a useless route, in my opinion. Brings you from nowhere to nowhere to use more buses. You can't use O-train transfers on buses, by the way, so that $6 to use the train and bus one way.

Okay personal experience.

Light Rail done right, is awesome. Take Calgary's example. I can't imagine what the traffic would be like without the C-Train.

Light Rail done poorly, is just a waste of money that might have a potential of being something good. Take Edmonton's example, it's good if you live around the LTR, and where you want to go is near the LTR, but if not, everyone just treats it like a joke.

The various levels of government backed off because the plan that they had studied for over a year changed, and they wanted time to study the new plan. It's normal, they have to do due diligence.

And you can use O-Train transfers on the regular bus systems, I don't know where you got that.

Off to the gym, blow off some steam. Cheers all

the proposed plan avoided the airport and key areas of the city.

I would support it if it went to the airport or SBP or somewhere people would actually, you know, go to without transferring to a bus.

Why build a rail system that is useless to the majority of the people in the city. City planners want the city to expand north-south but the buying trends and where people want to move are east-west, why fight it. This is just a more expensive Greenbelt type idea from our idiotic old city council. Spend a billion dollars on something that will never get used what a fantastic idea!

OH and I hope we dont get killed this game but am fully expecting it.

Bah, LRT... no LRT. Pick my plan instead.

- There are too many jobs within the Greenbelt (mostly centre/Northwest) and so many people live outside of it.
- Developments like Kanata for example, don't necessarily result in less travel (ie: people still choose to live in Orleans and drive there everyday).
- our current downtown isn't really central (because of a little thing called a "river" and developments in the south).
- Greenbelt's are largely a waste of space that cause people to drive further everyday. It didn't stop urban sprawl (only pushed it further). The useable park space is mostly in the northeast and northwest.

New plan
Develop a small Kanata type, additional, central business district beyond South keys between Albion and Hawthorne. Big buildings, parking garages and room to grow. Start small and let it get bigger.
Build a highway, transitway, maybe even LRT along the southern edge of the Greenbelt connecting Kanata to Orleans.

It's central and services pretty much everybody and involves minimal disruption in terms of land.

What? I admit I haven't followed every bit of this riveting issue, but it was supposed to go to the airport. David Jeanes of Transport 2000 (volunteer/lobby group) was complaining because the train was going to go to Barrhaven... and that people with luggage are going to hate getting on a train with Barrhaven-ites. OK, that sounded rude, but the point was that trains usually *start* at airports/etc because people are getting on with luggage.

as far as I know you'd have to transfer, but I did not follow this week's advised plans.

I know your guys' problem.

You guys are all calling it the O-Train.

Change it's name to A-Train, and all your problems will be solved.

Betting down to 666 was a loss, I can only conclude that purging myself completely of the devil will lead to a win. *looks at God knowingly*
