Read - Giroux - Lecavalier
Simmonds - Schenn - Voracek
Hartnell - Couturier - Downie
Rinaldo - Hall - Raffl

Or something like that.

If Hartnell gets rolling again. That will be one sexy third line. Although I can see Harts and Simmonds switching places.

Downie was on the top line on the Aves if Im not mistaken.

Wouldnt be surprised if its:

Downie-Giroux-Lecavalier

Berube may do that, just so he doesn't shake the other lines up too.

I dont' think you'll see hartnell/cout/downie. That doesn't seem like a big skating defensive first line.

Yeah remains to be seen. Plus isn't Downie prone to stupid penalties and one wonders if him and Roy had issues. Something is fishy fishy...

Love this trade.

We really could use a guy that's so tenacious on the forecheck

Downie is an underrated passer and he's very good along the boards so that wouldn't surprise me either.

Pretty great move by Homer. Colorado got fleeced.

Give up a 4th line player with one fluke year (albeit he is a great 4th liner and PKer) and get a guy who has 48, 46 and 52 point seasons (factored) before his knee injury last year.

If we had done this at the start of the year I would have been worried with him coming off ACL surgery... but I have seen two Avalanche games so far this year and he looked great... and his points so far are right in his usual kind of range.

He is also only 26, has a very reasonable cap hit for what he brings.

He is also pretty decent defensively, and works damn hard.

He is also instantly out joint top scorer! ;p

I liked Downie when he was here, happy he is back, he has matured a lot as well since then.

Our forward group is silly now... if it cannot score I despair.

Giroux, Lecav, Jake, Hartnell, Read, Simmonds, Schenn, Couts and Downie in the top nine.

Raffl, Hall and Rinaldo on the bottom line.

I imagine something more may happen though tbh.

Wow, value-wise, you guys kill us on this one.

Avs board is not happy. Downie was a fan favorite.

Best of luck to Steve, always root for that guy.

Love it.

Downie should never have been traded in the first place. He'll light a fire under a few players' behinds - exactly what this team needs.

I was never a huge Downie fan, but if he has cooled his hot-headedness down a bit, then I'm all for this deal. For Talbot, it's a steal obviously.

Talbot does give Colorado a great veteran presence on that young team, especially in the midst of that Varlamov situation.

Best of luck to Max though, seemed like a great guy.

Fun Fact: Downie was facing the "hardest" competition minutes along with Reilly on the Avs.

Guess his defensive game has come around.

Also for what it's worth, Eklund and a few other people I follow have stated that the Flyers are having serious discussion with the Oilers and St. Louis.

Would not be surprised if Simmonds is gone soon.

Thinking about Mez playing the other night also, either they were showcasing him, or they wanted to see if he could play full time if someone else is traded (think Coburn). Gustafsson is back in so they know he is better.
