Yea, I'm in the same boat as you. This shortened season is a tough one to have any sort of lower body injury because if your cardio goes in the toilet you're gonna be a dead duck with the limited days off.

Next year just stick Hartsy back on the top line with Giroux and Voracek, he'll probably never score 37 again, but I'd expect he'd sniff 30 like he has in the past.

Not as important as a stockpile of late round draft picks!

Players-schmayers. I want intangible assets!

Im sorry, but Im the only one here who got upset when they read this. Hartnel has and only will be good the year he was on a lion with Jagr. This guy is a joke with one of the NHLs finest players of the game. Should of trade him after that year and stuck him on someone else.

GO FLYERS!

He started the season like the rest of the team did, a disaster. He got hurt, and has come back and only played 2 games. In which he has collected 10 shots, 6 hits and is even +/-. He had a couple of nice looks in the Ducks game that Hiller gobbled up.

I think it's a tad early to be jumping off the Hartnell ship so quickly.

Maybe so but doesn't change the fact that him and Simmonds are redundant..and with Hartnell's age and contract if we are going to trade one of them it should be Hartnell if he agrees with it of course. I think he would. I thought last year they approached him at one point or something about accepting a possible trade?

In the Downie thread..seems like it was in 2010..but I still recall seeing an obscure reference with Hartnell acknowledging it more recently. Not positive though

Just seems like too much of a fan favorite for the Flyers to ship out during an already chaotic environment. I think Simmonds would go before Hartsy. Interesting about 2010, he's an Alberta kid, so it makes sense to a degree. But EDM is in no better shape than we are, maybe even worse. So I'm not sure why he'd agree to that.

Maybe a change of scenery again wouldn't hurt him...

I cannot find any anywhere... a lot of players around the league have them with unknown specifics. 10 teams would be my guess though.

Who gives a F if he is a fan favorite.

We pay the guy to play hockey for us and play it well.

He's a great human and teammate.

Very, very mediocre hockey player.

Spends way more of his career being cold than hot.

Inconsistency has been a valid argument against Hartnell. Also, the fact that he had to be told to come into camp in better shape this offseason compared to last which he wasn't in shape for either (even before his foot injury last year which compounded things) is not cool. Can't have some 40 year old in Jagr as your primary motivational force especially when he isn't around anymore. Credit to him for coming into this season in better shape and the injury hasn't helped his cause but again he needs to show more results. I wouldn't mind packaging him and would prefer to keep Simmonds..

I like the mean Hartnell alot better. His job is to be a huge *****, crash the net, and score Goals. He hasnt been doing any of that stuff for a few years. I could care less how interacts with fans. By the way Holmgren should ban him from twitter for posting all of his stupid photos.

Flyers Notes: Hartnell's hair, third-period woes

Could this be it? Maybe he'll stick around afterall

Quote:
Hartnell cut his hair this week. No longer the wild image. More stately now. Older-looking, too.

“Why not?” Hartnell said, when asked why. “Changed it up. I’ve done it a couple of times since I’ve been here. It’s different looking at yourself in the mirror. Like a total different man.”

Hartnell doesn’t have a point in seven games. He’s been back in the lineup two games after missing the previous four with a rib cage injury.

He appears healthy. He had three shots during the 5-2 win against the Islanders, but none against Anaheim.

“I really liked him in the Island,” coach Craig Berube said. “The other night [against Anaheim], like the rest of the team, I didn’t mind them until the third period. They got good speed there with Jake [Voracek].

“Got some grit and goal-scoring ability with Schenner [Brayden] and Hartsy to go to the net. It’s a good combination. As long as they’re doing the right things out there, good things will happen if they play the right way.”

I would add in his taking a lot of penalties that are unnecessary (Giroux is starting to get there too altho he doesn't do it as much) is another major point against.

I think most people here would rather trade Hartnell over Simmonds. If they don't then I don't know what to say.

So per Tim Saunders, 0 assists in the past 35 games. Truly brutal stat.
