WOOOO!!!! Theres one off my wishlist. I was heartbroken when Downie illegally bodychecked his way out of town.

What a move.... I applaud Homer on this one I imagine the move will also help drag some of this bi-polar fanbase off his back atleast around here.

I'm hoping for more energy...just not stupid energy like Hartnell and Simmonds. On the face of it I'm ok with the trade..I see the rationale for it but just confused why the Avs traded him.

Downie will talk with media later today. He will be in lineup Fri. vs. #Caps. #Flyers

This, Read Couts should be top pair and Hall someone on other. Added more grit so get Rosehill the **** off the team

Downie is a beast in the corners and has pretty good hands. That and the fact he laughed at Clarkson in the middle of a fight is about the most awesome thing I've ever seen.

Young D man, though the price would be more than that depending on the player.

Schultz, Klefbom, Marincin or Musil would be very interesting.

But yeh, that does not really make sense for Edmonton at all.

Has Raffl been PKing? If not, I could see him sliding into that role.

Talbot grew on me as I wasn't a big fan of that signing. That being said I think it's a great value trade for the Flyers.

...and this is why Sports radio hosts in this city should never talk hockey.

Last year he started off slow but then became beastly on the PK playing with Fedotenko until his nasty leg injury. I think the change in Colorado will do him well and he'll get back into form. Not sure if he'll repeat that offensive career year in goals when he came here but he is still a good player. Not like Colorado got nothing. Maybe it will payoff for both teams with addressing a need.

Looking gift horse in mouth. Waiting for Downie to announce that he has some rapidly progressing degenerative disorder.

...

This definitely seems like the first of at least a couple of dominoes to fall. I was thinking Simmonds, too, as the PF who could bring back a nice return, either alone or in combination with Coburn. Simmonds to Coyotes for Gormley / Rundblad? To Montreal for Beaulieu + 2nd? Simmonds + Coburn to Edmonton for Eberle?

Yeah, while Homer should be applauded, I think the real question is "what the hell is Sherman doing?"

Love the grit and intensity that Downie will bring. Plus he's a much better offensive player than Talbot.

Talbot was a good player for the Flyers though. Was just frustrating seeing him on scoring lines when he should clearly not be.

Don't think we will see another trade. I think they would have not had a press conference and completed the other deal if anything was close

Downie has 7 pts this year. He would be tied for 1st on the Flyers. I like Max, but Downie should help the offense.

I liked Talbot. I hope homer doesn't give Downie a 4 year deal right away......Unless he lights it up, i think we let him walk and we shed some salary at the end of this year.

Might not be the worst thing in the world to move another long contract too.
