The mean thing is a big deal. If thats true, that would separate him from the Larsons, Hedmens, and Murrays of the draft. Good players but not worthy of their draft optimism.

Florida recently released a couple lists of players they want to keep and players they want to shed (that list being mostly veterans). Can't remember which one gudbrannson is on, but Mact should get in on that fire sale cause there were a couple decent names that were listed as available (Fleishcmann is one, he'd be a great Oiler).

Another Dman to chase the Girardi from the rangers, he is a pending ufa, but maybe if he gels well with the group here and sees the potential for improvement....maybe he would stay?? Sather and the Oilers have tended to have a positive relationship and they need offense and we need defence, there's alot of things that could work here.

Nurse-Ekblad could be our Keith-Seabrook.

I'm not sure how we'd fit another RW in. We already have Eberle-Hemsky-Yakupov. Even with Hemsky gone that would still be a lot of RWs.

Hmmm...
What would Philly want for Simmonds and Coburn? I'd give up a lot to get those two.

Eberle, our 1st, smid and marincin?

We'd lose Yakupov. We could really use one or two of Couturier, Simmonds, or Downie

I wish Yakupov, Smid, Marincin for Couturier, Simmonds, Coburn. Doubt it happens I think Philly would want J. Schultz.

Eberle
N.Schultz

Tyutin
Dubinsky/Umberger

Maybe CBJ adds a little, but that is a solid trade. Tyutin would be our best defenceman and we get more grit while still retaining skill in our forward group.

Hall-RNH-Hemsky
Dubinsky-Gagner-Perron
Joensuu-Gordon-Yakupov
Gazdic-Arcobello-Eager
Smyth-Acton-Jones

Tyutin-Petry
Ference-J.Schultz
Smid-Belov

Our D in a year or two:

Tyutin-Petry
Nurse-Ekblad
Klefbom-J.Schultz
Marincin-Gernat

Your undervaluing Eberle we could get both Umberger and Dubinsky

Honestly, i'd be fine with giving up J. Schultz. I just have a feeling that he'll be a career "chaos defenseman": lots of points but even more goals against and suspect defensive play.

Hall, RNH, Yakupov, Perron, Gordon, Petry and Nurse aren't going into any trades that I'm proposing. Everyone else can be had.

If we could possibly get both and give away someone like Jones, even better.

Hall-RNH-Hemsky
Dubinsky-Gagner-Umberger
Perron-Gordon-Yakupov
Joensuu-Arcobello-Eager

We lose J.Schultz we lose one of our two only good Right shot D, the other Petry. I can't see us trading either. Philly just needs a young offensive D-men maybe we can sell Marincin as that solution but I doubt it.

I do think Umberger and Dubinsky would do wonders for us both in size and special teams.

Schultz hasn't even played a full season in the NHL. Give him some time adapting to the NHL before you ship him out.

Not only that, I'm really high on Tyutin. Guy is a gem, not sure how he doesn't get more respect around the league. Must be because he's in Columbus.

I like J. Schultz I see Scott Neidermeyer potential in him but this team needs size...BAD! We are going to have to overpay for it.

Very true, I hadn't considered that. It's a weird predicament that we're in: we need a good LHD to play with Petry, but we have a shortage of NHL-caliber RHD, so can't really trade them J. Schultz to do it. Maybe what it means is that Klefbom gets moved? I don't know if Mac T would consider that, and I'd like to see him with the Oilers, but the odds are that at least one of Musil, Gernat, Davidson, Fedun etc will become an NHL player, so maybe Klefbom is (sort of) expendable.

Only way I'd want Umberger is if they retain a big portion of his cap

Is his value high enough without any NHL experience? If Eberle Klefbom can land us Couturier, Simmonds/Downie and Coburn. Id pull the trigger.

Coburn is not the defenceman this team needs. Not sure what's up with the infatuation.

He's big and plays on another team.

Triggers the "grass is greener" reflex.

He'd probably be our best defenceman. Not sure how we couldn't use him.
