Rotating the rookies out once every four games or so might actually give them a breather, give them a chance to watch and think about what's happening.

Or it might be wasting their time.

I'm a little conflicted on this.

Great game day thread boys! I was just checking in to make sure that my hockey pool boys Moulson and Hodgson are going to get nearly unlimited icetime and it looks like that is the case.

Should I be concerned that I have those 2 in a points only pool where no player movement is allowed? Of course I realize I can't do anything about it but sit back and enjoy the pleasant ride.

I have no problem making Zadorov a scratch, it didn't hurt Ristolainen when he was scratched last week. Zadorov was kind of flat last game, though in his defense, he wasn't exactly horrible.

The season is long, the losses will be many, its not such a bad idea to shield the rookies away from a loss every now and then.

Speaking of defence, Pysyk and Ehrhoff are the only 2 defenders with a positive +/- at +1 each. Pysyk really is the forgotten one when you think of the youth movement on defence.

I'd like the Tank to take a break today, so let it refuel on another day. I dislike the Rangers, so losing to them would suck.

I think they'll put up points. Someone has to on the team. The current line of Moulson-Hodgson-Ennis has our three best offensive producers.

Guys....

remember they have a 9 game limit with Zadorov...so they want to have him step out a game or two and watch and learn from the box and still practice.

Last time I checked (could be wrong) but I though he has played 5 games. After the team plays at home on Saturday, they go on a 3 game western trip. They dont want to have him hit 9 during that trip....thus decision time and the PITA it would be to call up a player.

If I had to guess he sits against Anaheim too on Satuurday.

Benched Zadorov 'needs to get some perspective,' Sabres' Rolston says: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/...ton-says-.html

Sabres coach Ron Rolston doesn't want his players getting too comfortable, he said today, and as a result Nikita Zadorov will watch the game against the Rangers from the press box.

Zadorov will be the healthy scratch on defense tonight when the Sabres play in refurbished Madison Square Garden. The rookie is on a nine-game tryout, but Game Six will have to wait until at least Saturday.

"He needs to be better," Rolston said after the morning skate. "A lot of aspects, just a lot of his details right now, practice and game situations. He needs to get some perspective, you know? With all our players, especially our young guys, we don’t want guys getting comfortable."

Around here we call that Sabres Syndrome.

Alternatively "The Chad Johnson Paradox."

@SamKorotkin: Quote of the day from @BuffaloSabres Rasmus Ristolainen on tonight's matchup between @RyanMiller3039 & H. Lundqvist: "Our goalie's better."

Proof that Risto hates Swedes. I'm surprised he hasn't challenged Tallinder to a gun duel yet.

Probably only really knows this season... and in the context of this season, of course he's correct.

Sooooo, are the Rangers still the most boring team in the NHL? Or have they turned over a new life on the post-Torts era? Their GF is pathetically low but their GA seems to be pretty high. Maybe they're just bad now.

I've only seen two full games. It's hard to say with all the injuries they've had plus that ridiculous start of all road games. They look a little more open, especially in the Islanders game Tuesday night. Kreider was absolutely flying around on the top line with Stepan. If Buffalo brings the same kind of energy they did against Dallas then I think we'll see the Rangers match it, making another entertaining game.

NYR tried to play more open to start, but soon injuries (Nash, Callahan, Hagelin) and rough results on a lengthy road trip forced Vigneault to rethink and tighten up. They haven't allowed more than two goals in their last four; 12 GA in their last six.

The Rangers are in a tailspin.... the Nash trade was the beginning of the end for them, then they fire Torts.... ?? When he left half of the coaching staff left too... Crazy.

Believe it or not, with Miller in goal I pick the Sabres to win this one... 7 rookies or not... Just give Miller a tad bit of help on defense and the Sabres should win this with Moulson leading the team.
