Certainly worse than the one report said. I suppose like usual all of the details will come out as the case progresses. I'm trying to reserve judgment for a little while at least.

You simply just can't hit a woman unless your life is in serious jeopardy.

I agree somewhat. I think that standard is being questioned more and more these days, however; I think if you're being hit by a woman you have the right to prevent her from hitting you further by restraining her. Murky waters indeed though.

Sounds like a real class act.

Avs are a fraud anyway but if he misses a lot of time due to this it will certainly hasten their return to Earth.

I once kicked a girl when I was a snot nosed second or third grader, and hell I still feel guilty about that sometimes over fifteen years later.

Just can't fathom how any guy, even with alcohol involved, could beat a woman. Just hope the accusation's false, as I hate to think anybody could do such a thing, though I'd obviously be naive if I just blindly ignored the accusations some some derps are doing on the main board.

A few of the reports said she went to hospital for treatment, so if there are injuries they should give some indication of what happened.

The kidnapping aspect is odd...although it could be as straightforward as they were at his apartment and he stopped her from leaving or something. I don't know about Colorado but in Canada "kidnapping" includes something like that.

I started reading the thread on the main board then stopped. It made my head hurt

Kidnapping can be not stopping a car while arguing with your girlfriend. These are both retty low level felonies - yes, I understand that's a felony - but third degree assault is more negligence than allegedly throwing a woman against a wall and stomping on her.

Avs traded downie for talbot. IMO bad trade for Colorado. Downie is one of my favorite players im glad he wont be in our division.

Makes me wonder if we can pry some toughness out of philly at the deadline. they have hartnell, simmonds, and downie now.

how does this look

Saad-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Pirri-Hossa
Bickell-Shaw-Downie
Bollig-Kruger-Smith

In much lighter news, Toews all but kills whatever hope held by the most starry-eyed of Jets fans...

Quote:
@ESPNChiHawks: Toews was asked if he'd ever consider returning home and playing for Winnipeg. His answer will delight Blakchawks fans.

@ESPNChiHawks: Toews said, "It does run through your mind a little bit, but I always squash that question .. You know I love Chicago. Chicago is my home."

Downie trade makes no sense

And I hope to never see Downie in a Hawk uniform and doubt very much the Flyers are gonna just trade him off at deadline

I expect they will try to re-sign him

Hartnell contract sucks and he is not appealing (He really is not as good as his inflated stats in Lavi system made him out to be)

Simmons is also really nothing more then a 3rd liner who got overhyped

And hopefully Morin will continue to play well on the third line. He's been a great fit with Bickell and Shaw so far

how does a downie trade not make sense...get a vetran 3rd liner with toughness on a rental? is it just cuz you dont like him? because he is a gamer and would help on a playoff team.

and simmonds is a real good player too

Simmonds would be a beast on this team.

I've probably mentioned at least 10 times that Simmonds would be a great fit on the Hawks. Park his ass right in front of the net on the PP. We'd have to give up some pretty assets to acquire him, unfortunately.

I don't think they will try to re-sign him. I think they wanted more cap flexibility for next year.

Can't say I disagree too much with the rest of that though, although I think Simmonds would fit well here.

The make no sense part was actually about this Col-Phi deal (Probably should have clarified that). This is horrid deal for Avs value wise

As for Downie ,, No interest in him on Hawks (Last thing this team needs is a hot head while our PK is horrid) and I don't think Downie's game is well suited to Hawks style

And Simmonds isn't a terrible player ,, But he is another guy who is overhyped from production in Lavi system and it wouldn't be worth it to give up the assets for him

Told #Avs & #Flyers had been talking for some time about Downie/Talbot swap. Colorado had no intention of re-upping Downie at seasons end.

I fail to see how it's a horrible deal for the Avs. They get a great PKer, locker room guy, and quality 3rd/4th liner for a 3rd liner who doesnt PK, isn't that great defensively and is a UFA at seasons end. The Avs have enough offensive guys, they lack defensive depth forwards.

Say what you will about Downie...but he's exactly the sort I'd love to see on the Hawk's 3rd/4th line.

Not enough to deter the guy from coming back and continuing to be utterly worthless at anything other than getting suspended.

Considering it is his first suspension he's not very good at that.
