Avs have traded Steve Downie to the Flyers for Max Talbot
I can understand why the Avs did that move, as Talbot brings to a young team, a good leader, great voice in the room and a playoff warrior, which they''ll need come April. He's a good PK'er and a guy who always defends his teammates, has their backs. I never liked Downie as a Flyer but he seems to have cleaned up his act a little since leaving for TBay. Maybe being reunited with Vinnie L will work. But my fear is that he'll turn into Rinaldo 2.0 (I can't stand Rinaldo)

One of the Flyres beat writesr said 'his source' tells him the Flyers aren't done yet (big shock, Homer on the phone) and there are 1 or 2 'significant ' moves perhaps on the way.

Do you mean who is in the bunny suits? Hartnell, Gil, Mason, another 3 flyers who won't admit it. I'd guess Giroux was one of them too. The one I posted that people can't see was 5 bunnies dancing around a table full of beer.

So, does anyone else think that Downie may have been traded because he was sticking it to Varly's girlfriend?

Shanaban didn't buy into his excuse of being taller than other guys, and that's why the hit happened.

possibly, the trade screams like a panic move. Its a pretty big downgrade to go from a pretty good winger, who does a bit of everything, and has been 1 of their go to guys for the tough match ups this year (has the highest QoC on the team), to a pk specialist

I'm definitely thinking it was SOMETHING off ice, but I hadn't thought of that!

There has to be something more as to why Downie was traded for just Talbot, because I just don't get it

Talbot is a whole lot more than a PK specialist and Downie is a product of the company he keeps. The Avs are loaded with offensive talent and Downie leaving won't hurt them. But if they intend to make it thru the first round of the playoffs as a young team, then Talbot is far more valuable in more ways than Downie. If you're playing a top NHL team in the playoffs and it's a close game, Talbot's a very solid defensive player who can get it down in those close battles and provide leadership, esp in the locker room, someting a young team with little playoff experience needs. He's a very vocal guy and a warrior in the playoffs. And don't sell short how good a PK'er he is and how that will help, esp in the playoffs.

I've seen Downie as a Flyer and in the years since, and he's just another bottom 6 grinder , heavy hitter type that Homer likes.

B Schenn just having a terrible game

I wonder if it's just the whole team or if his development stalled.

What stalled? This is Brayden Schenn, and has been Brayden Schenn since his first preseason game aas a rookie vs the Leafs. He's inept in his own, ,loses most of his board battles, low IQ, makes bad puck decisions nightly, doesn't know how to protect the puck.
This has been his same game, he's not a player you can count esp. in critical game situations, when the money is on the line ,he shrinks.

The Flyers should have taken Phoenix up on their offer for Yandle when they had the chance.

Man, the Flyers are complete garbage... If they are stupid enough to allow things to continue, I hope we take advantage of Homer's idiocy and get some trades going.

That's if he's around to do anything. The fans are chanting both "Paul must go" and "fire Holmgren." That's just too funny.
