The Flyers support this crap too. Emery was named 3rd star of the game.

Wait one ****ing second, Emery was given third star of the game? The guy who had a .733 save percentage and then mugged Holtby during a hockey game? Shameful Philly media, way to live-up to your reputation as a complete joke

Just saw that. A .733 save percentage and he's named the 3rd star? Not Chimera with 4 points or Grabovski with 3 or Holtby with 27 saves for the shutout, but Emery. Even the Ducks homers wouldn't even do that.

Yeah, I didn't like that either. It looked like someone from the Caps wanted to get in and help, but the ref wouldn't let him .

who cares if the ref doesnt let you. He will throw you out of a game that is already won as punishment. Just get in there and help your goalie

Waved players off a couple of times. That ref needs to be sent to the minors pronto. That's beyond pathetic to just let a player completely beat on another player and not only do anything about it, but prevent his team mates from stepping in is even worse.

Emery on fighting Holtby: "He didnít want a fight but I said basically protect yourself. I didnít really have much of a choice"
Did Emery take a puck to the skull or is he just this delusional? You didn't have a choice to race down the ice and attack the other goalie?

Lol, letting the ref wave you off. One guy skated over and was like 'hey stop that'. Grow a pair and help your goalie. What's the worst that could happen? A suspension? Half a day's paycheck? Everyone involved with that is an embarrassement.

What an absolute disgrace that game was. And Downie's been rushed to the hospital on a stretcher.

He got drilled in the eye by a serious punch. He didn't look good afterward.

Have to wonder if we're maybe looking at a fine for the GM or team as well. Since Holgrem went in to talk to the team after the second and they come out and have a line brawl.

Frank Seravalli ‏@DNFlyers 10m
Downie must have been in bad shape. Security cleared off entire area for him to be wheeled out.

And as a Flyer fan and a hockey fan I was disgusted and mortified by Emery's gutless act. Hotby said he didn't want to 'go' and Emery told him to 'protect youeselfthen' and proceeded to engage and land 12 blows Totally cowardly on Emery's part...sickens me that he's a Flyer now.
Shame on the ref for letting that go and not busting it up, I want to hear him defend his position of watching Holtby getting assaulted and not doing anything and the linesman preventing the Caps from interfereing. League needs to suspend that ref.

Volpatti can fight yet didn't jump in to help Holtby...really strange.

I love fighting but that was pretty embarrassing by Emery; however, that usually never happens because players will jump in to save their teammate: especially the goalie.

Just embarrassing all around and another feather in the cap for the anti-fight brigade. Tin-foil hat time would tell me the ref waived the players off to make the spectacle look even worse to futher the anti-fighting agenda

Richards, Carter and John Stevens must be thankful they're no longer with that circus sideshow act.

Somewhere, Bryz is laughing his ass off.

Downie wasn't injured in the line brawl, his fight took place earlier and he stopped the fight so he knew he was injured. I don't know why he was taken to hospital afterward but it's pretty scary.

If Holtby had gotten injured this would be an even bigger story. Why the hell did he get a major? And don't give me this crap about Emery being mad so he chose to fight, goalie fights don't happen like that, if the other 5 players per team are fighting, then the goalies fight. He just was on a mission to beat the **** out of Holtby.

Frank Seravalli should have his credentials removed immediately for making Emery the third star.

Really embarrassing exhibition by Emery. That is not what fighting in hockey is about. I hope he gets suspended for 10 games.

Emery's comments post game match his senseless act:

Chuck Gormley ‏@ChuckGormleyCSN 1h
#CapitalsTalk ray Emery on what he said to Braden Holtby: He didn't want to fight and I basically said protect yourself

Chuck Gormley ‏@ChuckGormleyCSN 1h
#CapitalsTalk Emery on Hotby: 'I said, basically, protect yourself. He didn't really have much of a choice.'

Chuck Gormley ‏@ChuckGormleyCSN 1h
#CapitalsTalk Emery on disciplinary action: 'I'm not sure. There's a penalty for fighting in hockey. I gave him a chance to protect himself'

Is that what's that called Ray??? Really??? I hope you just played your last NHL game you balless cretin

How could they suspend him? The referee basically authorized it.

This could wind up being a bit of a black eye for the league. Pretty embarassing.

That ref should be fired. That was disgusting.
