GDT: Ottawa at Buffalo - Dec 16.06

Won't be around to do it, so it's up now. Mod's edit as required.

Correction: Emery will start

Quote:
Per TSN: Ottawa Senators: Forwards Daniel Alfredsson - strained hip muscle - and Peter Schaefer - eye infection - are both hoping to play tomorrow night against Buffalo. Ray Emery will start for the club who sent forwards Josh Hennessy and Serge Payer down the AHL's Binghamton Senators.

I really, really doubt Gerber's starting. Murray loves Ray with all his heart!

He has to start sometime, and generally, Murray starts him after a loss.

Not a big deal, it can be edited afterwards.

Can we stick pins in "Sens are like Whoa" ? I can't think of a better good luck charm, and it's for a good cause.

I think its time for him to guarantee a name change if they win

Let's not go overboard...

So far my name change plan is flawless, and so are my GDT's.

I don't want to waste it all on one game.

Surely it won't be Gerber. I'm glad he played a good half-game after the outcome had already been decided and everything, but that's no reason to thow him to the wolves right away. From what I saw of last night's highlights, Emery didn't have much chance on very many of the goals. It looked like a shooting gallery to me. He's a big game guy, he's handled Buffalo twice already, and now he's got something to prove. I think it's a no brainer.

As much as I'd like to see Gerber start (and win!), I think Murray will go with Emery. As for the Sabres, they'll be hungry after dropping their last 2 games to us. Hopefully we show up for this one.

I have faith in my team!!!!

Per the Sens' ticker, Emery's getting the start, and Schaefer's with Fisher and Neil, Eaves is with Vermette and Alfredsson. I don't understand why you mess up line combinations that were actually successful before these injuries, but whatever.

Murray probably forgot them.

Hobofish and myself will be in an exam before this game.

Then I'm going to a party at one of my girlfriend's houses.

And in 15 minutes I leave for a party.

On a pretty lame team to date, Tom Preissing's +21 is quite incredible.

Schaefer - Fisher - Neil were a force earlier in the season as well. I like the combinations Murray is going with, as I think Schaefer compliments Fisher and Niel extremely well.

Alfie will likely be back for this. It's a big game against a division rival and if we want any chance of catching up we gotta start now.

He's better than Pothier. He very good in an understated way. I hope we re-sign him.

He is NOT the player everyone thought they were getting, but I don't mind Preissing as a 6th d-man for the money he makes. I think Corvo, despite his offensive numbers, is a disappointment so far. If he only learned to play defence....

Seeing Tom Preissing's +21, i can't imagine i will ever take that stat seriously again. It is surely not correlated to defensive ability. I dont really know what value it has, and i dont think you can compare two players +/- and make some judgement based on that alone. But im warming a bit to preissing. The first couple games he made me cringe, but lately im feeling ok about him. When he gets his pothier/corvo dollars contract soon, im not sure how much i'll like him, but at his current salary and role, im feeling he's very effective.

Will alfie coming back be enough to lead a bit of a battered team to the same victory he did last time we played? Odds would surely be against it.

I argued with a Leaf fan for 25 minutes tonight that Ottawa's problem was not enough Aki Berg and he was so confused that he insulted his own team and said we were too good for Aki.
