Ekblad
Morin
Hagg
Gostisbehere

Wouldn't be a bad group of young defenseman to look forward to.

Can we defer our pick to next year and draft McDavid instead?

Ekblad seems to be similar to Pietrangelo. Who is McKeown similar to?

I think the nice thing about this draft is guys like Perlini, Honka, Ollas Matsson, Anton Karlsson and Ho Sang could be in the second round.

Some of them are more unlikely to fall than others, but there is a really nice chance some pretty damn good players are available in the first 10 second round picks... even if the draft is not as deep as last year 2 good players with great potential could be got out of it quite easily.

I am not on the Roland Mckeown over Ekblad boat. Ekblad is exactly what the Flyers want/need, a big smooth skating 6'4 right handed dman who has the potential to be a #1 stud in this league for years to come. His potential I think is much higher than McKeown

Flyers should see what kind of first and second round picks they can get for timonen, mez, hartnell, Coburn, maybe grossmann

I agree, especially from a team like Edmonton for Hartnell and Coburn. I would think if Edmonton doesn't turn it around though, it's more of an offseason move though. It would be nice to get a pretty package from them, they need that truculence in their top 6, and Hartnell would provide that.

McKeown isn't better than Ekblad, but I don't think his upside is as great as you may think. This kid obviously matured faster than most of the kids in his age group. I just don't see a ton of projection left. Don't get me wrong, he's still a solid prospect and I like him more than Reinhart, but he's a good step behind Seth Jones IMO. Not crazy about his skating. It's not bad, but again it's a good step behind Jones. Bob McKenzie said scouts were saying before the year that they weren't sure if he was a #1D kind of guy and maybe more of a #2.

My early season man crush is Julius Honka. Saw a thread in the preseason and I have had my eye on him since. He hasn't disappointed. Typical Finn. Small, but smart and skilled. Can't wait to get an extended look at the WJCs.

Why couldn't we have sucked last year (MacKinnon/Jones) or next year (McDavid)

There's no way that Roland is better than Ekblad. Ekblad is at worst a #2 defenseman in this league. Hell, he'd already be the best defenseman on our team if he was playing right now.

At this point, I'd be seriously considering trading off pieces for multiple 1st. Restock the System as much as possible and replace the lost assets with ufas until they're ready.

Ideally I'd draft the best defenseman available with our highest pick, and then a couple wingers who have size/speed and can shoot the puck well.

Something to look forward to!

Oh, and Ekblad is definitely the best d prospect in this draft. He's almost at a PPG right now, elite defensively, physical, huge, etc.

I'd be happy to see them trade almost any veteran who will get hem a pick. This season is over.

Similar to why couldn't we suck in 2008 (Stamkos, Pietrangelo, etc...) instead of 2007.

There's a reason Ekblad has been granted exceptional status.

Because he's more mature than normal kids his age.

How many 16 year olds can pull that beard off. Again its not to say he's not a good player, but just because he got exceptional status doesn't mean he's a generation talent. He was just too good to be playing midget hockey.

I have no comparisons but he's better offensively of the two. I just don't see the hype in Ekblad personally, like Flyguy said people try to compare him to Seth Jones & he's not on Seth's level, that's not say he isn't a good prospect but I just don't think he's as good as people make him out to be.

He could still end up going first overall but it's pretty wide open this year & the draft isn't that strong.
