Buffalo's playoff hopes...

Could very well be determined next week, look at the schedule:

Jan 17 Buffalo at NY Islanders
Jan 20 Buffalo at Atlanta
Jan 22 Buffalo at Boston
Jan 24 Buffalo at Philadelphia
Jan 25 Buffalo at Carolina

That 5 games, 4 of which are Eastern Conference opponents with more points than them. If Buffalo goes 4-1 or 3-1-1, I think it would bode well for their chances. However, if they go 1-4 or 2-3, they could be in trouble.

anywhere below the 3-0-2 mark is meaning we're out.

No, we're not out by any stretch no matter how bad they do. I think we should expect at least 7 points out of the team if they want to make the playoffs, but COME ON... it's frickin' mid-January!

I think the team needs to win most of its games, but if we're 4 points out in March, then we worry about the team winning 5 games in a row.

I'm all for winning, but take a realistic approach.

IMO, the NYI & ATL games are must win, the CAR is should win. If they win those three and get a point out of Philly or Boston, I'll take the trip as a success.

Not so, they're slightly better than the chances of a Bulgarian weight lifter found not to be using performance enhancing drugs.

i had the same criteria ahead of that stretch. If the sabres were serious, I needed to see them go 3-0 starting that first boston game.
