Im glad the oilers are showing that you can't suck to greatness. There is more to the NHL than draft picks.

Oilers and habs look similar. Their weakness is well known and identified yet management refuse to take proper measures.

You can add quite a few teams based on this. Philly with their goaltending......Nashville and their lack of scoring....tons of teams with their lack of good scouting etc.

Seems to be only a couple of teams, that have adapted to the cap world, and built good teams... ( Pitt,Chi,Bos,Van )

The Habs are bad, but not in the same league of terribleness as the Oilers.

You can suck to greatness if you don't suck at player management. The Oilers do.

In response to the OP about Emery not having a hearing...
When was the last time there was a hearing for a fight?

Was there a hearing when Scott went after Kessel?
Or when Orr went after Gionta and sucker punched Bourque?

Hearings are for players who use equipment to hit/injure other players.
Shoulder pads, Sticks, Boards, etc.

Besides that, everything is fine with fights.

We are not the suck fest of the Oilers, we are kings of the middle . We are vanilla, we are average with hints of good but very far away for great. We have along way to go.

We probably could have been a good (but not great) team though, which is why Therrien and Bergevin are not impressing me at all. Coaching and poor signings have put us on the lower side of average.

True. There should be something though for goalies that crosses the red line. And you should be able to use your imagination if a guy keeps ponding another who clearly doesn't want to go. That's assault to me.

I agree, I'm a pro-fight guy, but this wasn't normal behaviour. It's more proof that the GM's/League doesn't take the crackdown on fighting as serious as some fans.

He beat up a guy who wanted no part of it from the beginning, the only thing Coltby did wrong was being on the ice. Even as a pro-fight guy in NHL hockey, this makes the sport look like a joke, especially when its deemed ok to do so. There was no need of it and I am disgusted by the leagues inability to act.

That is beautiful.

Buffallo has been horrid, luckily they've got a really deep pool of prospects and young players.

We can also put Philly in this category. But the thing that piss me off is that we play average or bad every games. Even the game we won this season i though we didn't deserve to win. Can we get at least 1 game with 60minutes of intensity?

Rule 27.7 Participating in the Play Over the Center Red Line - If a goalkeeper participates in the play in any manner (intentionally plays the puck or checks an opponent) when he is beyond the center red line, a minor penalty shall be imposed upon him. The position of the puck is the determining factor for the application of this rule.

edmonton needs to do what boston did, with kessel.

someone has to be willing to overpay for a young guy, and should pull the trigger.

there's 0 depth, and no system where players understand their role to the team. that's one thing I credit therrien for, he teaches roles.

At least the Sens are also crap.

Nichushkin's first goal was a long time coming, he's getting better and better every game...but I guess he's enigmatic.
