What would you rather a win and then a regulation loss, or 2 shootout losses.

6 or half a dozen?

Yes, now your're getting it! A win gets you two points, a loss no points.

Losing in the shoot outs gets you a point (which is most like a tie)

In many ways the Sens are like career criminals, many corporate executives, Dyson vacuum cleaners, my tool shed, a major operation, a herd of cows and a skunk.

in other words......

They don't learn from their mistakes, are grossly overpaid for what they do, constantly suck, are totally disorganized, sickening to watch, drop big muffins outside but still cr@p in their barn and they stink.

The top 3 in each 8 team division are in but then the other teams in the conference fight to finish either 7 or 8 in the conference.

Doesn't make sense. Felt like Cowen was avoiding passing the puck to Karlsson at times.

Methot fits perfectly with Karlsson and I dont see a reason to split them.

Cowen missed d to d pass opportunities all f-in game - it was ridiculous. EK drives the offense but Cowen is carrying it through the crowded side to chip it in - instead of a pass to EK on the wide open side where he can gain the line with speed and create. Cowen doesn't even see that play and it doesn't register to many as a mistake but it is an epic blunder IMO. Guy doesn't see the ice and read the game and it costs us. How are you not looking for EK again and again?

I think it was a pretty good game. I would take this any day over the crap games we had against the Ducks and Sharks.

The saying goes if you have a good system, and you get buy in, things will start to turn around eventually.

BoroCop was a very good addition. He reminded me of the Pesky Sens last year-long on heart even if a bit short on the talent side. His grit without taking penalties every couple of minutes (I'm looking at you, Neil) was much appreciated.

Top 3 in each division are in, that leaves 4 spots left so 2 per conference so Sens have a chance at a wild card spot which right now they are 4 points back of. Games against Montreal and Columbus are huge because if we win them then we would be either tied with Montreal(if they lose on Tuesday) and tied for the wild card.
PO's this year are going to be much harder if you are a wild card team, ideally you would want to be part of the top 3 in the division.

We need to get the act of players shooting on goalies out of hockey. That has no place in OUR game!

Positives. The team looked like it had some fight today. Goaltending as always was great. Offence, as always, looked good.

Karlsson, Spezza, Ryan, MacArthur, Turris and Zibanejad all played really well. I was really impressed with Borowiecki and he should be in the line-up over Cowen every night right now. Smith is continuing to play well so keep him away from Neil.

This team will right the ship. There's nothing to worry about. Would really like to see the reffing even out but I'm very confident in this team moving forward...especially if they get some defensive help. Someone like Kulikov, Campbell, or Ehrhoff would be perfect.

Agreed with everything here. Turris works very nicely there. He's got hands, a shot, and is responsible defensively. Boro played very well, not sure why people were writing him off so soon.

Both Cowen and Weircioch still give me heartaches when they handle the puck.
I thought they both played pretty well today. The only major mistake between the duo was Wiercioch hesitating on a pinch, allowing Nichushkin to blow past and forcing Wier to take a penalty.

Team didn't stop skating. That's one of the biggest differences. We were also able to generate momentum off PPs and our PKs.

You are way too focused on his negatives. He had a very solid game, was making smart decisions all around. You can't constantly rely on Karlsson to be his only passing option, otherwise it becomes too predictable and Cowen won't learn or gain confidence in his decision-making.

Yeah. Both of the call ups have been great. The right combo of feisty and effective.

Cowen didn't slow down Karlsson today.

What kind of decision is this? Boro has one good game and you insert him over Cowen on a long-term basis, even though Cowen had a pretty good night himself?

I don't think we needed defensive help tonight. There were only two really good scoring opportunities off defensive breakdowns for Dallas - one in the first period, and one where Wiercioch was forced to take a penalty after hesitating on a pinch. The other 2-on-1s they generated were off offensive zone transitions, and most of those were broken up by backpressure from the second D or from one of our forwards.

Moreover, we didn't get hemmed into our own end tonight. Everyone was better on breakouts, on the backcheck, and covering their assignments. I felt the two goals they scored were more on Andy than the D, as neither appeared to be screened or deflected.

It was a solid effort in what has been, historically, a hard time slot for the Senators (we blow in afternoon games). The different defensive pairings worked and the PP was better. We lost but it the effort was there and that was critical: Cowen will get used to being paired up with Karlsson and he'll improve for it.

Other than the fact that they lost in a shootout (we suck at shootouts) it was a very positive game for the team.
