That's reasonable. Was expecting a 8 point night, but what can you do?

Solid night for the NCAA guys again.

Kellen Jones - 1g 1a
Connor Jones - 2g 1a
John McCarron - 1g 2a
Joey LaLeggia - 1g

McCarron has 7 points in 3 games now.

I wish it was easier(or cheaper) to watch NCAA games. With that stat-line and his 6'2'' 230lbs frame, he's really looking like a sleeper.

Whoa I had no idea he was off to that kind of start. I found the highlights from 2 of his games against Nebraska - Omaha.

McCarron #14 assist at 0:37 (he ended up wtih 3A in the game)
Assist while driving the net at 2:15, 2nd assist at 3:23.

Beware, there is a Patrick Mcarron (#27, no relation to John) playing for Cornell as well.

I read somewhere that the Canadiens really had an eye on him that draft. Next year they got his brother anyways but there's a pretty good scouting staff over there. If they had their sights on him and now he's showing some potential I like the sounds of that.

Something I find very strange about the Oilers Scouting/Development is the players drafted always seem to do very well in junior post draft, but once they make the transition to pro they really seem to flounder.

Looking at the box scores it looks like Roys not playing today, after only 1 game back from his injury.

How's Dillon Simpson being playing? I had hoped he could've surprised us.

LaLeggia's development will be interesting to follow.

Chase with an assist tonight against the Oil Kings. After getting to that torrid goal start, he's decided to be a playmaker (by the looks of points) and now at a VERY respectable 17 (GP) 13-10-23.

On an aside, the undrafted Mitch Holmberg has 42 points in 18 games. Now, he's small and what-not, but it would be nice for a bigger team to give him a chance.

I'm doing some colour coding to hopefully make it a little easier to check out the stats. Points are in red, and I'm going to be doing games played as well (haven't figured out what colour yet)

this shade of red is bad for reading on white or gray background. either make it darker or choose another color. making points bold could help too.

Agreed, bold would work better IMO.

I notice that specifically its players that hit our AHL team really have not developed well. I am pretty sure that Jeff Petry and Devan Dubnyk are the only players on this team to have played at least season in the AHL and gone on to be regulars with the team. Martin Marincin seems to have come along well but we will for sure know once he hits the NHL. I believe its something with the development system. I wonder if its because of Todd Nelson or its something else...

Its not an Oilers only issue..

Its a huge step from junior to the AHL. You should be putting up big numbers in junior after your draft. That is an expectation. It doesn't make you a surefire prospect.

You only become interesting as a prospect once you show you can play in the AHL, imo.
