I believe it is the last year. I saw one of North Dakota's games last year & he looked pretty decent to me, granted he was playing on a line with Danny Kristo (who was one of the better forwards in the NCAA last year) that game but still.

IS there s blog that updates weekly with the stats of our top prospects? I thought I read it a few times. I think it updated every Thursday or something. I could really use a place to keep track of everyone.

I think someone on the flyers board tried to start something up last year or the year before that. But i never really followed it much.

I just saw Morin now has 8 pts in 13 games...still over a .5 ppg clip. It seems like that's what people are hoping for, to stay above .5

If he keeps up the 0.6 he will probably be in the top 20 for D scoring in the Q by the end of the year... which would be nice.

Nice to see him racking up some points.

Has anybody been watching his games? Has he shown any improvements in any other areas?

Does anyone know if we still own the rights to Simon Bertilsson? Did he ever sign? He was a 3rd rounder in 2009. I remember a lot of people being high on him and calling him Kimmo Lite, which is a term thrown around for every undersized, quick, smart defenseman.

Anyway, he seems to be having a pretty good season. As a 22 year old in the SEL he has 7 points in 16 games which is good for 2nd on the team among defenseman. He also leads the team with a +10.

Upon searching I found this from June 2011:

Quote:
Philly Sports Daily has learned that the Flyers have not come to an agreement with Bertilsson and he will be made available in the 2011 draft.

Yeah, I saw that article when I searched too. The only thing that doesnt make sense is that you have 3 years to sign a player and he even states that int he article. That article was from June of 2011 and Bertilsson was drafted in June of 2009 which was only 2 years at the time. I believe we had the rights to sign him by this summer.

Maybe someone more in tune with the that kind of thing can help shed some light on whether the article was correct or not. Just doesn't seem right that he states in the article that you have 3 years to sign a prospect and it was only 2 years at the time.

He was pretty much constantly on and off the injury list from the day he was drafted until his rights were released... both knees, both shoulders and concussions I believe. And his game looked to be stagnating (probably because of that.)

And then he said he was not coming over for another year (in 2011)... I reckon that sealed Homers decision.

There was/is talent there though, he is a feisty sob and does most things pretty well.

There was an individual NHL-SIF transfer deal (after demise of NHL-IIHF) that meant the rules were the same as the CHL (2 years to sign).

There was loads of messing around at the time... with some guys from Sweden getting 3 years and some 2 as some rights were extended depending on the draft year while transfer agreements with individual countries were being agreed.

There is a new deal now though that lets rights be kept for 4 years in the case of Swedes. Thank god... it was such a mess.

i'd like to take this time to remind everyone of my persistent pumping up of Anthony Mantha before the draft. Maybe this organization should listen to me more often... or at all.

Q: Who would you say Scott Laughton most compares to in the NHL?
A: He's a poor poor poor really poor man's Crosby.

From Corey Pronman's twitter account.

Maybe that one poster was on to something there when he said Laughton is the next Crosby.

We'll see how he does in the AHL next year. He's off to a great start but this is his fourth year in league now & he was the oldest player in last years draft.

And pretty much everyone agreed that if the Flyers were picking 5 picks later, he might have made sense.

They had him 16th on their draft board. Its not like they didn't like the kid, they just weren't going to use the 11th overall on him.

WELL THEY SHOULD HAVE!

Nah, I like Morin. Just not convinced he's going to be what we need him to be. I just believe Mantha has a better chance of reaching his potential. The kid quite literally has all the tools. But I'm content with our pick.
